I think everyone including freepers voted for McCain (and held our nose). That is a good question. For the life of me, I can not understand how any conservative can support McCain.

Palin would really made a lot of points over here if she hadn't. I can understand blind loyalty, but ticking off your base is another matter.

Don't have a clue but unfortunately I expect DeMint to support Romney again. Romney was in SC in Oct. collecting more chits by rasing money for DeMint.

I was speaking of Fred’s endorsement of McCain in the primary even when such conservative stalwarts as Rush and Ann Coulter were telling everyone to support McCain. I wasn’t around her then, but I think most Freepers were supporting Romney over McCain at that point.

I do use the word RINO when the shoe fits.

But to suggest Palin and DeMint are RINO’s is ridiculous.

None can pass the litmus tests of some of the purists here on FR. I’m petty hard line conservative and I have called McCain RINO many times...Snowe, Specter, Collins....even the leadership when they give in to media’s pushing to be PC.

But when we start calling our best conservatives RINO’s because you support another...it’s getting out of hand and assinine.

As I see it, the problem with the term RINO is that it is so poorly defined that it is becoming meaningless. I mean is there an actual consensus by anyone on what policies a person has to advocate in order to be a RINO?

LOL, let’s talk about it on another thread, it’s getting late. But I think it is safe to say that Rep. in name only is pretty descriptive, assuming that the conservative plank of the Rep. Party is assumed.

I think a general acceptance of the the three pillars of accepted conservatism on economic, social and natsecurity are required. I think also that the tone and manner in which a Rep. goes after his own is also a pass to rino land lol.
