Sorry about multiple posts. It appeared not to post for several minutes, so I repeatedly clicked the post button and got ~5 all at once.

Foot powder: http://www.amazon.com/Freeman-Soothing-Liquid-Powder-Peppermint/dp/B003N1WRFY

http://www.walgreens.com/store/catalog/Treatments/Foot-Powder/ID=prod2496-product?V=G&ec=frgl_&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=sku302496 (cheap, generic Walgreen's brand)

http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/gold-bond-maximum-strength-foot-powder/ID=prod389133-product (Name brand Gold Bond sold in most places........)

What's your excuse again? Ahh yes, convenience and cost.....the rest is rationalization of behavior, no differently than a woman that seeks an abortion (She had too, she had no choice), a kid that smokes pot on a medical prescription (He has too, he's in massive pain and has glaucoma)......... You really want “X” so you rationalize and make up arguments to justify the ulterior motives that are in conflict with what you know to be right. At least be honest. If you want it because it's convenient and cheap, say so and don't say there are no alternatives or the cost difference is “HUGE.” In very very few cases is that actually true.

Even looking for that exception to make some argument (trying to use the exception to create a rule) isn't easy for you because in reality the products are out there and the cost difference isn't that huge. Caffeine tablets?

http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/vivarin-caffeine-alertness-aid-tablets/ID=prod5571-product (Common brand and what is the real difference in cost in dollars and cents?)

But I got it. You have no choice.......... you can't wait, make a phone call, use the internet, and there is never a label present.......... If it is present it's a conspiracy and doesn't matter anyhow because it's all made overseas anyway despite what it says......... Assembled in the US don't matter either, at that point you might as well buy Chinese......... No one can afford the price difference......... You MUST buy Chinese, you have no choice!/sarc

I want a car and I'm completely open minded here to all options. But my criteria is that its name starts with a “B” and ends with a “W.” That's about as realistic a scenario as you present, and STILL I can find US made alternatives.

If you try real hard you can intentionally (not based on true needs) construct an argument or case where only one specific outcome is possible. Even for lathes there are many options: US, German, Austrian and Japanese primarily that are not Chinese. It all depends on what you're looking for and I don't have all hose facts (Years past, before the Army and college I worked in a tool and die shop as a lathe and milling machine operator for Allied Signal Aerospace, lol- past life). Of course you can “define” your criteria to get your pre-determined answer......but that isn't honest.

Are you looking for a wood lathe I take it?

FRiend, even at the commissary, gold bond powder is 800% more than the stuff at Dollar General.

The matter is cost, not convenience. It's damned inconvenient to have to buy the cheap stuff, since I can't get all the stuff I need in one place.

300% for caffeine tabs at Walgreens. I do buy their generic coal-tar dandruff shampoo. About $10 for 16 oz, versus $9 for 8 oz of T-Gel at the Commissary.

No, metalworking, thread-cutting lathe. I can build a wood lathe with the metal lathe, or just work wood on it.

$90 for the Chinese fluxcore wire welder, versus $419 for the Lincoln equivalent from Lowes. Last one I actually looked at was “Made in China” btw. It took me a year to get the $90 for the welder. Another year to get the $50 for the auto-darkening helmet. Now I can actually weld stuff, too.

I just fixed my son's broken office chair with the chinese junk. Saved myself the cost of a new chair, which is good, since I can't afford to buy a new one. And I paid for the welder with that one little job.

The bottom line for me is that if the stuff I need is too expensive, I have to do without. Especially for tools, if I have to do without, then stuff either clutters the place up until I can find some other way to fix it, or gets trashed, and we do without. That ain't very convenient, I assure you!

I used to by T-gel, as it works well for my entire family. I used to buy Vivarin, and Gold Bond, too. Now, I just cannot afford it, and have to plan my travels so I can get what works just as well for less money. When I can't afford the stuff I need even when it's the cheapest available, it sucks, and having you complain that I'm destroying the country buy buying what I can afford irritates me no end.

My plan is to say to heck with you all, and set up so I can MAKE what I need. And maybe barter for what I can't make, but there isn't much of that, if I have to go and find some talc rock and grind my own!

Yes,

You hve no choice.

You’re forced to buy these products because there are no substitutes that can meet your needs and they are all to expensive. Otherwise you will starve.
