One school insists that while the president's policy prescriptions are indeed ultimately destructive, he nevertheless genuinely believes that their implementation is what's best for the country... Members of the other school are convinced that Obama is resolved to weaken America... This may come as a shock to both sets of apologists, but a synthesis of their perspectives is attainable.Doesn't matter which is correct -- we will finish him before he finishes us.
It couldn't be more obvious. That is, for those of us with brains in our heads. I would have liked to believed that all of us here at least understands what is happening. Apparently not.

I’m aware of every fact that you’ve spammed this thread with, but I disagree that he’s a Black Liberation revolutionary communist. What he is is a typical screwed up left-liberal who wishes America were Sweden, but he does not wish it were the Soviet Union or Cuba. To believe that is to take things way too far, to a point that is just silly.
But does Obama want to consciously "destroy" America as it is? I'm sure The Grand Redistributor doesn't think so. He thinks he's improving America by making everything more "equal."

I don't think so. Look at the flamingly hard core Marxists which he has sought out and surrounded himself. Do you seriously believe these men and women would be satisfied with “soft” socialism?
I’ve had several obama worshippers heatedly deny that he wants to destroy this country. They just can’t see it but they also can’t explain why he’s doing what he’s doing. They simply blindly follow. And, by the way, I’ve removed myself from those people’s lives.
There are a lot more who call themselves "Republicans" who do the exact same thing. A lot of people are stuck on the notion that simply because someone has an "R" after their name they can do no wrong.......
Part of the problem of understanding liberals is that we expect them to be consistent in their reasoning. But they're not. There's huge doublethink going on in their heads. They obviously don't really believe in private property or that people's rights are God given, and in that sense they are in perfect agreement with your typical communist, yet they are not communists.
I think some of that is going on with Obama. I think he identifies in a fundamental way with the hard left, and is sympathetic to the hard left, and agrees with many of the hard left's premises, but I don't think he is anything like a literal communist.
Look, leftwingers are never satisfied with anything. Their vision of the future is almost totally a direction, not a destination. They never state an end point. A guy named Voegeli who wrote a pretty good book recently called Never Enough where he basically pored over decades of statements and writings by prominent liberals and found that they literally never try to identify the outer limit. It's like it's just not part of their thinking.
So it really is almost pointless to speculate about whether he wants to turn America into Sweden or Cuba. We do know he has packed his administration with people who would like to take America in the same direction he'd like to go, but these people are the standard left-liberal types. They are a known quantity. They are the same academics and activists who are basically on call for whenever a Democrat administration moves in. Hillary would have packed her administration with many of the same ones. It's like a culture that moves in. And they are on average very far to the left, but they are not Castro and his cadres.
The funniest thing about that Ayers’ video (34) is when the old commie tells the reporter to get off his stoop:
“It’s private property.”
