it's often a good idea to check the homepage to avoid lashing out in total ignorance.

“Leaking water jugs can make a stinky mess”

Good thought. Thanks.

"How about people that shoot like Mr. Magoo and fight like the Pillsbury Dough Boy?"

Well... we split up their gear, say "Forget it!", and then say "Drive on!" ;-)

Then dont come around talking to someone who up until his 4th or 5th birthday, never had the chance to throw and electrical switch. Or until he was at least 10 ever saw a TV. And had to go out and cut, and still does cut his families winters Firewood. OH yes..I have a Monarch range-the one from my folks place. If you know what that is. It is still used.

Unlike you who CLAIM to be survivors, until you prove to me you actually live off the land, which to me wouldnt be to hard there since it very seldom SNOWS or FREEZES, I wont put much stock into it.

I dont bow hunt, And yes I have a muzzleloader and have hunted out west around Flagstaff AZ and go out on the BIG lakes for trout, whitefish in the winter, pike etc. Hunt Grouse, and Ducks and Turkey. Used to run a trapline, but got to old for that since snowshoes take quite a big out of a person. Ate beaver for no particular reason but to do it, used to have coon feeds around here but that has come to and end since nobody does it anymore. . But now we generally shoot our deer off the jobs we are on and stay away from deer season since the looks of those hunting dont really...So by the time deer season rolls along, we are done putting up what we want. Generally butcher once a year-got a guy that does it for us. So times are better, and when some clown comes around telling me I aint got any idea, how the HELL do you know?

Yup, you made me laugh also since I have seen some TRY and live off the land...flatlanders who come up and put up a shack and then cant make it and we end up having to go and burn the GD thing down after they leave, since its infested with whatever you can think of. Matter of fact, hard times hit, we aint even gonna know it. When you get older, you will better know when to shoot your mouth off.

BTW, we saw how they survive down there when we had to come down and clean up the mess around NO and LC after that storm. You know all those big trucks with the wheels from front to back and the log loaders on them? Well those were trucks from up here in most cases. Wont see them much anymore, since most have decided to get shot at for helping aint worth it. The folks in Miss. were real good though. Think I will go there again if asked.

Worth elaborating:

I bought a dozen cases of bottled water (1 gal & 2.5 gal). Stacked up the boxes in the garage.
One of the jugs on the bottom sprung a leak, and soaked the cardboard box which proceeded to rot and stink. Being on the bottom of a pile of boxes and other flotsam, identifying the problem took a while ‘cuz it didn’t dawn on me what, or more important _where_, it could be.

You seem to carry so much contempt for others who can take care of themselves. Surely they are cheating or lying, but in any event they are not in any way living up to the PERFECTION that you display as you live.

Rather than trade endless insults, my heart tells me that I should pray for you.

Depends on where home is, and what the emergency is. At least 3 of my favorite preparedness authors live in tsunami zones now, thanks to the revised tsunami maps. If someone has the perfect backwoods bunker, but is within several miles of a dormant volcano, those volcanos could start to become active at any time. A river could flood, a hurricane could reach pretty far inland, a forrest fire could sweep in, etc. There are lots of disasters that would require bugging out, and lots that would require bugging in. Best to be prepared for both.

The hazards of infectious disease are in general grossly exaggerated.

Remember all the hype for the last 5 years or so about the flu that wasn’t? Disease is a problem for less than 1% of the population, and all of the quarantines of the past have been shown to have been unnecessary. Most people are simply not really susceptible to many of the transmissible diseases.

Attempts at setting up a quarantine would be one of the best reasons to bug out.

That’s pretty much how it usually goes with boxed water.

Best to get them out of the boxes and onto shelves so that no bottle is supporting any other. Even then a high percentage of them will fail over time unless the valves are well seated.

I used to store them upside down, but even that fails because the polyethylene will crack and leak.

IIRC, the plastic is designed to degrade over time for environmental purposes (a good thing). They’re not meant to hold water for years on end.

I dont carry any contempt for anyone. Yet when someone comes on and tells me that I dont know how to live off the land after having done it nearly all my life I tend to take that in hand. And I dont claim to live in perfection. I claim to live the way the auld folks brought us up. Help those who need help and honestly want it, and to return the favor and if they dont they are on their own.

BTW..for what it is worth. I will give you a bit of advice here. DO NOT ever let anyone know where you are from (area) or that you are a survivor type person. By doing that you broke the very first rule of the survivalist. Remember Randy Weaver? Or the Tigerton Dells thing, etc. Those were from contact through the outside. The Tigerton Dells incident was because they needed medical treatment for one of their members and that started that one off. Remember, they will come for you and your stuff if they find you out.. Which makes Alaska look real good. The further out you are the better, unless you intend to fight it out.

And also take this advice, they intend to follow through web sites like this. When they pass that internet spy legislation I hear they are intending to submit, I suggest you and your fellow survivalists drop your internet. I hope you have a good place as my congressman told me personally that we all had better have lots of ammo on hand. Good luck to you, you’ll need it as we all will.

You’re brainwashed!

That is not a good thing, and there is no significant environmental element to the 2 1/2 gal polyethylene bottle. Get your head out of that place.

False environmentalism is making this world grossly disfunctional, and that is its stated purpose.

JDB never told you anything before you went on attack mode for no reason other than to try to claim some unearned credibility on this thread.
