"None of us on this site is an idiot so we deep down know the guy is on a working vacation."

Signs his name on a piece of paper written 20 years ago. Whew, I need a vacation from my vacation! LOL

We went this year. There is no keeping me and my 3 year old out of the Pop-up despite the rest of the families efforts. It was just not what we did a few years ago. Two hours from home. I am a dedicated cheapskate to begin with an to have to start throwing nickles in a jar now to hope to make Cape Ann next year while this jack a$$ rolls up to the Vineyard on a Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous vacation is really getting my blood pressure way up right now.

And the campgrounds we stay at survive off of people like us. The locals who we deal with survive off of us. Now they are going out of business. It is a total snowball effect. Those guys are seasonal so they have a small window to eat for the year. I’m so worked up right now over this I am going to grab a scotch. I need to mellow out.

One of these days I’m going to get a little teardrop camper.
Just for 3 day weekends and stuff.

I share your enthusiasm for pinching nickles.

Martha’s Vineyard has always struck me as a place where rich leftist elitist snobs purposely make everything (lodging, food, etc) so fracking expensive that peasants like us will never consider going there. Even if I had the money to go there I wouldn’t these people make me sick.

Are you high right now? First you say that Bush took way more vacations than Obummer at this point and then you say that the Stupidest President that America has ever had is really working overtime while goofing off. Really? Bush used to go to a barren ranch in Crawford to get out of the DC cesspool and put a shovel in his hand to remember what his constituent did everyday to make a living. Obummer takes time out of his busy golf schedule to take the Family to an elitist enclave to lick more Ice Cream cones. Do you suppose that he puts those Ice Cream cones in his hand to know what the Baskin Robbins workers have to endure during a day at work? Get out of here.

I don't mean "get out of here" as an insult. Just a figure of speech.

Travel trailers look cool, but when you park those in the sun, you know what your piece of chicken feels like defrosting in the microwave. My compatriots laugh at my Coleman Plantation until they stay an evening in it. It’s like the Ritz Carlton of the campground.

Hey, the Jeffersons...I mean, Obama’s can eat whatever they want as long as they PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE. He makes, what 400 grand a year? He can afford to pay for a $200+ dinner while he is on vacation.

Hey fellow squid, you’re profile could have been written by me of all people. I too hail from the great state of PA. I too spent 25 years, 6 months, and 5 days in the greatest Navy on earth. I’ve been pro-life since I knew what it was and have been a conservative Republican since my first trimester. I have two children who I stopped dragging all over the world in 2008 when I finally retired as HMC. Live long and prosper my friend! . Go Steelers! (unless you hail from the other side of the state-lol)

............$186 for the couple. .............

What about the spawns?? They should be allowed at least PB&J on whole wheat toast by Amir the organic baker, at $50 each.

Then there’s the downtown ice cream desert once the secret service clears out the area for about one hour!

Mouchelle is going to be pissed, especially since she had to spend an extra few hours on the island before Zer0 made his grand entrance in AF1.

Wonder if the Mooch had to wait in the airport lounge for Zer0, or if she had her own 24 vehicle parade to the $50,000 per week vacation home???

And, where’s Bo the dog??

One doesn’t go to MV for the food, it’s a vacation resort for the masses. It’s beautiful, but clichéd by now. Anywhere the Kennedy’s and Bill Clinton have claimed as one of their fun hangouts would make the sensibilities of the place highly suspect, IMHO.

The big attraction that pulls in tourists is the fact that famous people are associated with the place.

It used to be necessary to escape the summer heat and northern climates work nice for that.

The O’s are going there because they think it’s the coolest Democrat place to be.

If a President wants to go somewhere relaxing and elegant and have a relaxing fine dining experience as part of his vacation, and he wants to stay in the U.S., he might consider going to Sea Island in Georgia. They have several restaurants, including the Georgian Room. This is the summer menu:

Summer
Appetizers
Iced Sugar Pea Soup, Maine Lobster, Meyer Lemon, (Beluga Caviar Supplement $30) 21
Fiscalini Cheddar Grits Soufflé, Blue Prawns, Low Country Oyster Gumbo 23
Potato-Dill Agnolotti, Beets, Horseradish Froth, Fennel-Caramel Vinaigrette 20
Big Eye Tuna and Foie Gras, Charred Pineapple, Cocoa Butter, Smokey Soy 23
Alaskan King Crab, Avocado, Mango, Curry, Forbidden Rice, Chicharrónes 22
Salads
Signature Caesar Salad, White Anchovy, Ice Box Crackers, Shaved Pecorino 15
Heirloom Melons, Ibérico Ham, Hazelnuts, Huckleberry-Verbena Granita 16
Summer Squash, Tomatoes, Chick Pea Panisse, Eggplant, Burrata “Pillow” 15
Fish
Striped Marlin, Turnips, Coriander-Radish Slaw, Quinoa, Key Lime Glaze 41
Sautéed Redfish, Zellwood Corn Succotash, Chanterelles, Sweet Onion Butter 40
Meat
Boar Tenderloin, Grilled Peaches, Creamy Polenta, Bacon-Onion Marmalade 42
Organic Chicken, Black Barley “Risotto”, Grilled Figs, Fennel, Fig Barbecue 40
Wagyu Beef Ribeye, Melted Sweet Peppers, Cornbread Pudding, Chow Chow 46
Desserts
French Silk Pie, Tahitian Vanilla Pearls, Chocolate Streüsel, Chocolate Curls 19
Watermelon in Many Forms: Compressed Melon, Cake, Pudding, Sorbet, Soup 15
Angel’s Food Cake, Lindsey’s Rainbow Sherbert, Berries, Cotton Candy Froth 14
Ice Cream Tasting: Grape Soda, Cake Batter, Lemonade, Root Beer Float, Strawberry Shortcake 15
Tableside Artisanal Cheese Cart, Apricots, Preserves, Tupelo Honey, Cashews

Check out all that they offer on their website:

http://www.seaisland.com/

Not to mention, though you wouldn’t know it to look at it, since the economy has been so awful, it was struggling and actually in Chapter 11 bankruptcy and a private group purchased the place and is operating it.

And wouldn’t you know, due to the fact that it is on a secluded island, it has excellent security capabilities for high-level visitors. In fact, in June 2004 it was the site of a summit meeting of the G8 (world leaders).

Would it not be nice to give them a lift with a Presidential visit ?

I mean really, compare the menus.

IMHO.
