As I recall, there wasn't just two feeble warnings and a half hearted attempt. The Bush administration warned the size of Freddie and Fannie had become problematic and that behemoth could negatively impact the markets. They wanted a regulatory agency specifically tasked to oversee accounting at Freddie and Fannie. There were hearings and red flags along with recommendations put forth by OFHEO; all scoffed at, denied and ridiculed by democrats.

The biggest deniers were Maxine Waters, Barney Frank, Chuck Schumer, Arthur Davis and Gregory Meeks. Meeks was so incensed by the allegation there were problems that he shouted and pounded his fists, as if he had personally been accused of theft. To this day, Arthur Davis is THE only rep. who publicly apologized for his incorrect stand.

Well, the socialists are definitely in play, their numbers grow exponentially as the college and university mills churn them out in great numbers. I have a sinking feeling this is going to turn out quite badly and may, in the long run, be a lost cause.
