This is right on.

Perry is a man of Character. WITH A CORE.

I watch the bar room brawling of the other candidates and just shake my head.

Eventually they will have to sober up.
Look at the Paul supporters and their disgusting ad.

But ofcourse Paul didn’t have ANYTHING to do with it. He never does. This claims of: WHO ME? I didn’t do it. Are symptomatic of a man that that never takes responsibility
for what his vile hatred infects.

Perry is an optimist and knows what he is doing. If everyone wants the status quo vote for one of the others.
If you want America Back.....VOTE PERRY.

I'm replying to you with what I honestly believe, not trying to pick an argument.

The Texas economy was somewhat better than the rest of the Nation prior to Perry, and will likely remain as such after Perry. I say somewhat strong as celebrating an unemployment rate over 8% for a period of time isn't really something to crow about in normal times. I don't like the debt the great state of Texas has taken on under this Governor.

I don't like the tight rope he walks on illegal immigration. He made his “heartless” comment in regards to those who are opposed to in state tuition (in which he supports), failing to recognize that by providing benefits to illegal activity also encourages more illegal activity. I'm not crazy about the numbers of illegal immigrants soaring under Perry. I don't like a convoluted idea of “strategic fencing”. Either one is for putting up a fence or they're against it. I don't find this an issue where there is middle ground, try as he might.

I'm not crazy about the Gardasil issue, though I accepted his explanation for being wrong in the way he imposed the law.

I don't like the appearance of the Governor taking care of certain friends, and I don't like how those friends have the appearance of taking care of him (his real estate transactions).

With that being said (and I'm fairly sure you will take issue with those points), I do like the talk of states rights, less Government regulation, less taxation, a pro-life agenda and a return to personal responsibility.

I've posted to you before that I'm certainly not critical of you and your fellow Perry supporters. I have felt all along that Perry has been his own worst enemy (debates and continued misstatements) either because of a lack of preparation or maybe he just isn't that good in pressure situations. A Presidential campaign is a far greater task than anything he's faced before.

The reluctance felt by many to support the Governor was not only here, but manifested itself in a fifth place finish in Iowa, a state who does have a different primary method, but still a state in which he should have done far better if he had hoped to be a major player.

Should he be proceeding on? That's his choice, but I just don't see how he can remake himself now. He is who he is and altering from that now would make him appear disingenuous. It's also possible by continuing on will reduce his role to that of a spoiler, favoring someone whom most of us really don't want to see as the nominee, Mitt Romney.

. . . so has he backed off on the “have no heart” thingy? The DREAM Act is part of the denigration of border defense after all, and is not compatible.

Gov. Perry has sincerely apologized (didn't say "If you were offended...") for saying people "didn't have a heart" if they didn't try to understand why Texas has had to work around problems the Federal government has caused and refuses to fix. Rick Perry's frustration got the better of him because he has been a border governor fighting for a very long time to secure the border, and has done what can be done at the state level.

You should have “binged” instead of “googled”. I found it in 5 seconds! :)

Susan B. Anthony List’s Pro-Life Pledge

Best answer I read. his pro-life legislation. [I did find it in google once I added pledge, thanks]

So far pro-life and flat tax legislation make Perry stand out from Romney.

I wonder if the folks who named Bing thought about the difference in the way “Googling” and “Binging” sound. There exists this inconvenient word with connotation of something unpleasant, unwise, or unbalanced: “binge.” And when forming participles in English, the final “e” is dropped, hence “binged,” “binging” etc.

Thanks for sharing that email with us. I’m still supporting Perry 100 %.

The debates over the weekend should be an opportunity for him to score major points based on his record versus the other candidates, and I look forward to a winning outcome for Perry in S. Carolina !

Perry’s proposed a Flat Tax, Perry’s got an extensive jobs and energy plan, Perry’s said he’ll work for half pay. It’s hard to say what Romney would do because he simply can’;t be trusted. As Newt said, the man’s a liar.

Personally, I could easily have lived with Palin, Bachmann, Cain, Perry, Newt or Santorum and would be proud to enthusiastically support any of them, warts and all. Any one of them is infinitely better than Obama or Romney."

You have come on this thread and repeated a number of the half-truths in a “not to pick an argument” way.

Now I could come back with my list of links that prove what you have so “cleverly” come here to do and then be accused by other posters of spamming FR with pro-Perry information.

I will tell you this, you are out to lunch on your negatives talking points, and you just about remembered the “top ten” smears. Bravo to you. /s

Non-defense of borders is now a conservative tenet?

That comment puts your ignorance on full display. Why don't you take a few minutes to learn what Governor Perry's stand on the border is as well as his record?

Yes. People who see him campaigning, say he has a "joy" about him.

How can one attack “conservatives we don’t like” when they’re not conservatives, and that being why we don’t like them? The liberal-leaning RINOs think that they need to be more liberal or “moderate” to win, when the reverse is true. The conservative base is sick of the pandering to liberals, FWICS. The “vote for the best out of a bad bunch” view isn’t viable if said candidate gets into office and continues to uphold the liberalism that has rotted the country from within for many decades.

If he hasn’t dropped support of the DREAM Act (even the TX version), then all I ask people to remember is that a double-minded man is unstable in all of his ways. I don’t see the kind of liberal shadow cast against Perry by the media that was cast against Jan Brewer. Ignorance?

Nikki’s endorsement for Romney won’t mean squat. It would matter if she had endorsed the other Rick or Gingrich.

Endorsing Romney puts her at odds with most of her constituents and they won’t pay much attention to it.

The people of texas supported the Dream Act in Texas and their legislature voted overwhelmingly, nearly unanimously, in favor of it and have not seen fit to seek it’s repeal. That’s a Texas matter. Period.

I don’t know where you’ve been but Perry has guaranteed to secure the border within one year after being elected president.

Why would you reveal yourself as so woefully uninformed?

Perry is not a conservative.

I have been opposing him since I got involved in blocking the Trans Texas Corridor.

You will find me in posts on this for the last five years. With Perry, I am not here to oppose his candidacy, I have been up front for five years that he needs to be run out of politics, Period. Not just the presidential running.

I will vote third party or write in if he is the nominee, just as with Romney. Just as I did in 2008 when the Republicans tried to push McCain.

There is no more debate here. Perry set his course years ago, and when constitutional protections get in the way he has been willing to tromp all over them. If you personally want to vote for that, go right ahead. I will continue to oppose him.

The beauty of FR is the ability to disagree, respectfully. You have your candidate you’re committed to (which is fine), and I see better choices. So be it.
