No I am admitted survivor. Good luck to your family a year into a massive breakdown or civil war.
Never said anything about leaving my area. In my area all bets are off, stay out.
I plan to. Some here better plan better to and re-evaluate their altruistic drivel when it comes down to brass tacks.
You may have stated it a bit more tasteful. Bottom line is a year into a major breakdown event everyone here spouting warm and fuzzies will change their tune as the urban masses migrate out in search of sustenance.
bttt
I photographed pretty well when they took that, didn’t I?
Excellent point. Water is numero uno, or pretty close to it. And a person needs a lot. I have one of those Katadyn filters. Expensive little sucker. Must’ve bought it 25 years ago. Don’t have a clue where it is now. Everything got packed up during a major renovation we did and haven’t seen it since. Haven’t seen a lot of things since. Probably in storage. Been eyeing Berkey’s stuff for a while now. Want. Definitely need more capacity than a Katadyn can do anyway. A well would be ideal if we had the right property, but don’t. But for others... Don’t wait!
And my family will not want for basic items. Believe it or not there are other places to get basic items than in a store. See, this is why you will die, you have no real survival instincts.
But you do what ever you want to do. I have no obligation to stop you from rushing to your doom.
You can also just use regular bleach from the grocery store. You put a few drops in and wait awhile then run the water through the Berkey and it takes out the chlorine. We run all water from our tap through our Berkey before drinking now to get out the flouride and the chlorine.
And the difference between them and you? Nada. Zero. Zip. Zilch.
And that is why you will end up dead.
“I doubt that I will take a bullet anywhere. Years as a firearms instructor in the military and civilian world has made one thing evident, most people shoot targets really well but cannot hit a barn when it counts.”
You will more than likely take a load of buckshot from a Mossberg 500 while you are sneaking around somebody’s chickencoop in the middle of the night.
Nope. I don’t sneak.
No, you will.
Well, all I can say is game on. You are another one talking about things you will never do. I never have stated what I have or not have. I don’t have to go to town for months.
You versus me, I bet on me every time big talker, I have land, crops, and knowledge.
This thread has grown boring with people surmising about things they have no clue about and deciding who lives and dies. Can you detail your experience in survival or combat situations other than Halo?
With your attitude I highly advise you stay away from the North GA mountains. Your life expectancy up here would be about 48 hours.
Been there, nice area and good people. I trained some of them boys.
Have a friend in Clayton, who thinks similarly. We have been together on some adventures.
A band of "highwaymen" ambushed the town doctor, beating him severely; then attacked an isolated home, robbing and murdering the couple that lived there. In response, Randy (who has authority as a former Army officer due to martial law) and some of his colleagues set a trap for the "highwaymen", killing or capturing the entire group, but at the cost of one of their own. The captured thugs are then hanged and signs posted on them to help discourage others from messing with that town.
This is actually the book that got me interested in prepping. As an Army brat, I've always been fairly aware of the world situation, but after reading this book in the early 90's and witnessing the chaos of the breakup of the Soviet Union, the Balkan Wars, and Bubba Clinton's heavy-handed tactics, I started wondering what I could do to make sure my family and I were ready for whatever might come our way.
I seriously doubt if you have ever trained anybody. I have friends in the Sheriff’s auxillary. They will get a good laugh when I show them your comments about taking other people’s supplies. What a hoot.
In Rabun County, GA a guy like you will end up buried in the back 40 with an apple tree planted on top. :-)
I can cast aspersions too, I doubt you have any real friend’s that are real sheriff’s deputies, probably just a weekend groupie. You are a hoot. I don’t give moment’s thought one way or the other what you doubt or what you think I have done.
It is wonderful that you think so highly of your home state and some boys abilities, that is good, just stay there we already have enough blowhard transplants in Texas. Apple tree, now that’s funny, you’ll need your sense of humor and superiority when the lights go out.
