I think the only good that can come out of this is that normal, rational people will say “Wha...????” and support gun rights.
A rather high strung aquaintance of mine when I was a youth put a guy in a coma at a stoplight for honking at him when it turned green and he was slow on the take off. He did it with an axe handle. After a 2 year stint in prison he actually came out moderated and changed (and insanely bulked up from prison gym) and has, AFAIK, remained on the straight side of life since (~30 years +-).
He was lucky in 3 ways, the guy lived undamaged, he only got 2 years, and the guy was NOT ARMED.
These mayors make me sick. Taken together, at this very moment in one of their cities, is a trial for assault with a deadly weapon where the defendant is facing years in prison for using a fist, or club, or ax handle in an assault or threatening a police officer. Courts have often ruled that even a fist can be a deadly weapon, and indeed hundreds of people a year are killed with one.
Urban blacks have a “knock out game” where they try to knock out a randomly chosen white male with a single blow to the head. Several victims have died from that single blow.
Liberalism has made these mayors idiots. It is more important to advance their cause than to protect the public.
When Chris Matthews is the sane one between two liberals....
He would no doubt take a knife to a gun fight and scream no fair as he was dying!!!
I believe the whip-fight scene was shortened mostly due to the fact that half the film crew and Harrison Ford were all sick as dogs at the time. I guess they all learned a lesson about drinking the local water.
Sadly I have to say they were ahead of their time. They probably went to school with all the lefty nuts who seem to have really taken over during the last 40 years.
“Would it be okay to defend myself with a bigger axe handle or does it have to be the exact same size?
What if the assailant isn’t responding to diplomacy and I don’t have an approved axe handle handy?”
(In British accent): RIGHT, then! Take one banana, peel it and throw the peel smartly at the assailant’s foot! He will thereupon slip and fall directly on his arse, at which point you can run away!!! /s;)
Because being beat to death is just whoop ass.
If I saw someone charging at me with an axe-handle i.e. large club, and I was armed with a gun, if I had the time, I’d brandish my weapon and if possible tell the attacker to cease and desist. If the attacker (unless it’s a little kid) did not cease and desist, I would shoot the attacker.
In my hometown of La Crosse, Wisc. I've know of at least two cases where people were killed with a thrown full liquor bottle. One person is currently charged with homicide in a recent case of assault with a full bottle of liquor. Many years ago I was hit over the head with an empty liquor bottle while trying to break up a fight at a New Years party.
Moral of story: never try to break up a fight where one of the people fighting has an object in their hands that can hurt you. However, the empty liquor bottle did absolutely no harm to my rock hard cranium. It acted more like one of those fake liquor bottles you see in tv and movies. I'm still shocked by the fact that I felt absolutely no pain. But if you were LEO for a period of time, you probably have plenty of your own New Years party stories.
I should add that I’m not and never was an LEO. At the party where I got the empty bottle smashed over my noggin, I was a guest so to speak.
I would confuse the attacker by axing him a question in cursive.
“If you were LEO for a period of time...”
I was National Guard, on riot control duty. I had plenty of rocks thrown at me and my men. The most deadly weapon I had at any one time was an unloaded rifle with a fixed bayonet. On only one occasion was anyone foolish enough to approach within arms reach when I was so armed, and he quickly made himself scarce when I assured him that I a) knew who he was (a notorious radical agitator who was seen at every disturbance), and b) would be looking for him specifically when the order to disperse the crowd was inevitably given.
