“You can walk into many large bookstores in China and buy a Bible - in Chinese.”

This is not true. The ONLY places where Bibles are legally sold in China is in the officially registered churches.

Bibles sold in China do not have ISBN #s. They are not for public consumption.

You miss the point. It is a moral outrage that China is the world’s #1 printer of Bibles, going to the bank with that economic benefit, while denying access to any kind of Bibles to huge numbers of Chinese Christians. And Americans who support their industry is supporting their repressive regime, at the cost of the oppression of fellow Christians.

You can imagine anything you want. That doesn’t change the fact that Christian publishers and Bible-buyers are taking advantage of the cheap labor in China while doing nothing to impact religious freedom for the Christians there. How can American Christians in good conscience participate in what amounts to financially backing government policies in China that hurt Chinese Christians?

“....and hopefully in the right price range.”

That is why bibles are printed in China.

While he said that, I’m certain Mike Day would not have minded paying a little more for a U.S.-printed Bible.

As the person who wrote it, I am uniquely qualified to tell you I would gladly have paid more for a Bible made in the U.S.A.

I guess you don’t realize there are principled people out there for whom the Almighty Dollar isn’t God. But in reality, we do exist.

I live in California and I refuse to buy tomatoes from Mexico. Only “grown in California” for me, regardless of the price. It’s the principle. And apparently that’s what some people simply do not get.

My comments actually reinforced that point by pointing out how the practice can not have a side benefit to the Chinese people by making more Bibles available to them.

Yes, at least as many as it takes to preserve an industry. It's frustrating when so many don't see it, eh? They want personal service, and quality products, but tend to buy price.

But he never thought to check. So much of our manufacturing has gone to China we don’t even think to look for domestic products anymore.

It was only because of religious human rights abuse that the subject came up.

He couldn’t check, fanfan, because the Bible was plastic-wrapped and couldn’t be opened until after purchase.

It’s hard to find personal service. I guess that’s why people buy things on the internet more these days.

You got me thinking......There are over a billion people in China. I wonder how many are Christians.
