attempting to delete Keybar toolbar
thanks
The Keybar Toolbar is fighting deletion
then I have to delete “Search Protect”
Malware Bytes says it found 6 in the first 8 minutes of scanning.
Meanwhile the Keybar toolbar refuses to be deleted, so far
Thank you
I have tried the add/remove programs route but its so slow right now it doesn’t seem to be working.
Malwarebytes sure takes it time scanning through Microsoft Office stuff.
Bump for later reference
I turned off Norton and the laptop seems to be faster. I think Norton is hogging all the resources. I do want to delete some of these malware programs though.
After 2 hours of a full scan Malwarebytes says it found 30 objects
still scanning...
in a few minutes it jumped to 41 suspicious objects

You definately have a malware problem. Search Protect by Conduit is a nasty creature. It installs it’s own tool bar into your browser and then prevents removal or disabling of the toolbar. It redirects your browser home page and attempts to prevent any changes to it.
It writes numerous registry keys. If you try to uninstall Search Protect, it will go through the motions and it will appear you have removed it, but it is NOT removed. It can be really difficult to get rid of.
Let malwarebytes run and then tell it to clean up everything.
DO NOT perform any other operations while malwarebytes is running.
Once malwarebytes has finished and has deleted all the bad stuff it found, go to Control Panel/Programs and Features and uninstall Search Protect if it is still listed. Also unistall any program with Conduit in its name.
Then run malware bytes again. Run a complete scan, not a quick scan.
That should fix it. If not, pm me and I’ll see what I can do.
Malware Bytes is taking a long time
I sure it does a good job
this all reminded me to scan my computer too
I haven’t scanned in a long time because.... Linux
this is not a quick scan, its taken over 4 hours
this scan is taking longer than a short tour on the SS Minnow
Thanks for this thread.
I will look into some of the solutions posted here.
They are much better than my default solution:
Throw the thing out the window.
One of the machines I worked on a couple weeks ago, took all night. By the way, if the machine is disconnected from the internet it may run a little faster.
I just turned off the wifi, we’ll see
