I don’t think you get to “send” your son anywhere nowadays.
Maybe his son will want to join up, maybe not. Maybe RP thinks the Muslims love isolationists...which they probably do, but not for the right reasons.
However, when the new caliphate attacks us, hopefully son and dad will at least do the right thing and fight back.

Rand Paul has a point...I think we need our military on the border, not in the middle east.

I dont think you get to send your son anywhere nowadays. You don't. If you did, the next time my husband went on an outing for a few days, our 20-year-old would be out the door to Iraq or wherever would take him, with his guitars, his hair products, and his electronics-array.
I agree with Rand Paul that the Iraq War hasn't turned out as one might have hoped, all those years ago ... but his bringing his children into the question is pathetic, if they haven't chosen to join up.
The only reason my daughter didn't join the Army to fight in Iraq was that they were never going to put a 5'1" girl in a tank and let her kill jihadis. The Coast Guard gives her the opportunity to shoot at pirates and smugglers, at least.

MY thought as well. My guess is that his son will be like his dad, a little too good to serve in uniform.

RE :”
”I'm not willing to send my son into that mess,” Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, told CNN chief political correspondent Candy Crowley on Sunday. “ ???
Come on Rand, our close friends and Allies in Iran (Shia Muslims) are calling for our help in Iraq.
We cant let them down. Do it for mom and apple pie/

"I'm not willing to send my son into that mess,"
Talking about the current situation in Iraq I guess I'm in agreement with Paul on this one. I'm not willing to put ground troops into this mess right now. I really don't know what the solution is at this point other than the Iraqi army has to beat back ISIS (not with Iran either) and we can assist with intelligence and possible airstrikes.
I know we can't re-do the past but the real solution was to never run for the exits at the end of 2011. Let's try to remember this as we run for the exits in Afghanistan. A residual force has to stay behind to continue to train, provide intel and be there to protect the ground our men and women have given their lives for. When the Generals ask for 10 - 15 thousand to stay behind in Afghanistan, let's give it to them. If that's what it takes for the place not to fall into anarchy, then that's what it takes!! We've been in Germany and Japan for 70 years. Doesn't mean we're still at war.
