Tuesday on “The Alan Colmes Show,” Navy Captain, former astronaut and husband of Gabrielle Giffords, Mark Kelly talked to Alan about the new book he has co-written with his wife called Enough: Our Fight To Keep America Safe From Gun Violence.
Alan and Mark discussed why Mark and Gabrielle continue to own guns themselves, about the passing of new gun legislation in California, and what Sarah Palin did that was “irresponsible” and “insensitive.”

COLMES: Just today in California, Gov. Brown signed a law that says if you are a relative of somebody that has a gun and you think is dangerous, you can now take that to a judge, who then may decide to take that gun away, and some people are quite upset about that.
KELLY: Yeah, I think that some people are. But what we often see within families, and especially families that have folks that are mentally ill, when there are guns involved, that it’s a pretty common sense thing to do, to try to at least temporarily, before you can get a person adjudicated, as mentally ill to just try to get, you know to try to protect the family and others from gun violence. I know the bill was just signed into law today but it does seem like it was a pretty reasonable thing to do....

And of course he sees no possible way this could ever be misused or abused. No problem with taking away someone's rights based on hearsay? What level is the burden of proof here? How "close" of a relative does this have to be? etc. etc.
Oh, and Mr. Giffords, if you really are about safety and preventing violence then you would be promoting firearms ownership. Time and time again it has been demonstrated - note that is proved not merely hoped nor speculated - that reducing restrictive "gun control" regulations reduces violent crime. Conversely, increasingly onerous "gun control" results in sharp and sustained increases in violent crime rates. So Mr. Giffords, if you really are about safety, start promoting firearms ownership. If you stay with the "gun control" advocacy, well, I guess that tells us you really have a completely different agenda.
Kelly and Giffords are irresponsible and insensitive.

COLMES: An atmosphere was created do you think where what happened to your wife was possible? I mean people have talked about things like Sarah Palin putting out a map with targets on it. Do you put any blame in that direction?

I wish I had a list of all the things I have seen from the left over the past few decades that they said was a sign of mental illness. BTW that includes left wing mental health professionals, not just screwball Hollywood types.
1. Wanting to own a gun at all.
2. Wanting to homeschool your children
3. Not trusting or fearing the government.
etc.
We have also allowed a culture to grow of everyone turning their neighbor in for suspicion of anything. I have seen someone’s kid practicing with throwing knives on a target in his back yard in a suburban development acre plus lot, result in a swarm of police cars show up. Getting people to tell the government that you own guns and might be mentally ill is a disaster. If you are a freeper the left considers you mentally ill.
I didn't know Alan Clombs had a radio show, maybe it's like on Seinfeld when Kramer takes over the Merv Griffin show in his Apartment.

Every time I hear this crap about Palin’s map, I fume.
There is a truth in that day. The truth is that the left chose a loon to whack a judge that was making a judgment against the O admin. Gabby (awful name) was just the person used as the target to cover the crime.
That judge was set up and so was she.
None of it had a damn thing to do with Sarah Palin.

Police seize toy cap guns from first-grader on school bus in northeast Ohio

AKRON, Ohio – Police boarded a school bus in northeast Ohio and seized two toy cap guns from a 6-year-old boy they say was pointing them at other children.
The bus driver alerted police when he saw the first-grader with what turned out to be toy pistols Tuesday morning in Springfield Township near Akron.
Police tell The Akron Beacon Journal (http://bit.ly/1tgJeIn ) the child pointed the silver, Western-style cap guns at another child and threatened to shoot. The toy did not have any caps in it.
No children were injured, but police said some of them were shaken up.
Officers took the toy guns and turned the boy over to his parents. No charges were expected.
