Had he been drafted, his military school experience would have counted enough to the military for him to start as a corporal, rather than a private. So, obviously, it counts for something, to those whose opinions on this count the most.
Misleading headline that is negated by the meat of the story.
Thanks. I had not seen that quote before.
oy vey. The only thing that would register with Trump is the difference in the amount of pay our boots receive. God bless our boots who don’t do their jobs because of the money.
A dozen or so died in training units I was in over 6 years. By drowning, vehicle roll-overs, and lightning strikes.”........................... My experience after I left the Army and joined the Guard, found that the Guard was more dangerous than the Army. 3 passengers in a jeep with powder bags, Boom! (Care for a smoke?) Cold night in the field, lets all sleep in the APC with the engine running, 4 guys didn’t wake up. In a hurry? Take the jeep back to the cantonment area, use the tank trail and weave in and out of the moving tanks in the dust clouds. 3 guys flattened. When giving instructions to a backing up deuce and a half, stay to the side, not behind against a building. Several roll overs on the parkway, fatalities due to souvenirs found in the impact area are just a few that occurred. This was all in my Div. in maybe 2 camp tours and a week end. Not counting the non fatal crash of a helicopter that injured 2. There were others but I can’t bring them up from my memory bank. Re: military schools, if I recall correctly they had military advisers and military retirees. A few years back, I was offered a job at a HS for their JROTC program, I didn’t take it. As a kid, my parents wanted to send me to an academy, but they couldn’t afford it. I think it was run by Jesuits, if it was, that would be a military experience for sure.
Esquire?
The Uniparty is going all in on attacking Trump.
All for one purpose...to get Hillary elected.
FWIW
In the mid-60’s I went to what was referred to as an ‘Honor’ Military Academy. It was a private school, but directly connected to the military.
We had active duty military instructors, headed by a Captain, later promoted to Major.
We had a Master Sgt. and 3 Staff Sgts. teaching us leadership principles, basics of command, military history, military strategy and tactics, and rifle and handgun instruction. They also led us in daily exercise and weekend long-distance runs. All this of course, along with our regular class work.
We had room inspections every Saturday morning. We had AGI (annual government inspection) once a year, conducted by a one star general.
If we joined the military after graduation, we received accelerated rank after basic.
The other part of being an ‘Honor’ school was the fact that they were allowed one nomination to each of the five military academies.
As it happened, I was the nominee for the Air Force Academy, was accepted, but turned it down.
Later in the early 70’s, I was working as a DOD contractor at several air bases and stations around the country. And after observing the life of the soldiers I was sometimes working besides, we were a lot more ‘military’ than these soldiers were on active duty.
Now of course, combat is a whole ‘nother story.
But, compared to the day-to-day life of the average soldier at a US base, it’s a valid comparison.
Check out my post #90 and tell me exactly how he’s wrong. We did this 9 months a year, not a couple of months or more of basic training.
Tell me how it’s not like being in the military.
Easy. Military school is not (NOT) being in the actual military service.
Military school is a good thing.
Wearing the uniform in the service of our fine Country?
A great thing.
Honorably discharged men and women who completed at least one tour of active duty are veterans.
Graduates of military school are ...
graduates of military school.
Everyone should really know this.
.
Easy.
Military school is not (NOT) being in the actual military service.

And exactly where did I say it WAS being in military?
I said it was like being in the military. And we worked a lot harder at military ‘stuff’ then any airman or Marine I saw on base.
