No projecting here. I don’t give a damn what anybody thinks of the weather where I live. Heck I wish more people hated it, town didn’t used to be this crowded.

I wish you much luck. You will do great.

Just stay away from 8 mile. It hasn’t recovered yet.

I was born and raised in Trenton and lived a few years in Wyandotte as a wee teeny. My dad worked at the Wyandotte Chemicals until BASF bulldozed it and now it’s a lovely park on the cleaned up Detroit River. Trenton is still a very nice town, one I wouldn’t mind living in. I moved back to Michigan about 10 years ago after living in Florida for 30 years - my yankee DNA is happy to be back in the four seasons. Every winter has been different, too. Nothing to compare with the mini-ice age I experienced in the ‘60s. Now - Only one month of really bad stuff. Now that I am retired and don’t have to drive in it, it doesn’t bother me at all. Would love to find a place further north that is made for year-round living. So far, that has been a real challenge.

Michigan is a gem of a state. Lived in California over 10 years now, and miss Michigan tremendously...hope to get back one day. A summer in Michigan is unrivaled. Spring and Fall are great, too. Yeah, the winters can be rough, but fun too depending on where you live in the area. Northern and western suburbs of Detroit are some of the best places to live in the country.

Downtown/Midtown Detroit are booming and attractive places to live for younger folks (20-40s). Much of the CITY of Detroit’s neighborhoods are still a mess, but doubt you’d be looking to live in those places anyway. I say go for it, I lived in the city of San Francisco for years...and I think Michigan weather is better 6-8 months out of the year (March-October). Yeah, I know people might think I’m nuts, but that’s my opinion!

Dan Gilbert and others of our Detroit love fest - there are a lot of us - are paying very close attention to Detroit. And we are doing all we can to bring her back. My investment is minimal but it is there.

but I’m surrounded by gun-toting rednecks. Good folks, mostly.

LOL. That's what it is like for us too. Lotsa trucks, flags, and people who open doors for each other.

I still would love to get a summer home in Michigan one day. Convincing the wife is the issue.

It amazes me how many tourists we see from Texas. Not sure why that is.

You are a breath of truth here.

"A summer in Michigan is unrivaled." That is how we feel too. It's the most awesome perfect weather with just a light breeze that caresses your face. It is one part of what has made us fall so deeply in love with this state and her people. Come home soon.

I left in ‘79

You left in '79 and you consider yourself an expert on S.E. Michigan?........LOL!

I'm still here and loving it! And for the record, we never missed you..........

Yeah. Painful loss for us. Last time he messaged me was during the campaign and I thought he said he would be back.

All I knew about him was that he was from outside of Jackson. Had cool Jack Russells.

Hope he comes back someday.

Detroit is a lucrative place to live . . . if you are the Tooth Fairy.
