I love Frasier. Sometimes I just put on hulu and watch an episode or two. If I watch it on network tv I feel very strange, like I am the only person to have this sense of humor who isn’t wearing a catheter or sitting in an upright bathtub. I don’t get why you need to be 80 to enjoy Frasier. My kids even like it.

Gert the “new” XTV-2

Go here: https://www.rokuguide.com/private-channels/xtv-2
It takes you to Roku to add channel. The “new” XTV-2 does not have as many shows now. The shows they had from cable are gone like Game of Thrones which I suspect triggered the shutdown. Once you add the new XTV-2 you can read the latest updates where they explain what shows they will be getting.
Still hundreds of episodes to view.

Same program icon as before.
Remove the old one by pressing on the Roku remote, the * asterisk button, choose Move channel the use the arrow buttons to move to your lineup of Channels.
Mine are Plex - sling - XTV - Channel Pear - Netflix - Amazon and many others

What you see when you add the channel. It showed up right away after the system update.

Channel XTV-2 has been added to your channel lineup.
Channels typically will show up within 24 hours. To access your new channel now, you can refresh your channels on your home screen by visiting Settings > System > System Update

Hook an HD antenna to your TV and there are lots of local channels that play all the old shows. Another good way to watch free!

Fraiser, feel the same way. A well written show with good characters and, of course, Eddie. The production had a tight group of blended persons and you never knew who would walk or call in at any given time. Expecting to see the unknown gave the episodes a sense of Alfred Hitchcock when watching his movies and expecting him to make an appearance.

In his final episode the cast included Jennifer Beals (Flashdance) and Laura Linney (Absolute Power) Wouldn’t have known that she was J. Beals if it hadn’t been noted. Laura, being in a more recent movie was easier to recognize.
Adam Arkin was tough. Knew he was an Arkin but at no clue as to which one. The show was never boring. Still a few more steps down the path to reach 80, nonetheless believe we must have seen every episode at least once :)

Thank YOU! Minnesota Bound.

We’ll now repair our tee vee post haste! or scrape pennies to buy a new one. Are the new digital tee vees all temperamental? We’ve had to buy 2 in the span of 10 years. First was Sanyo and now the Samsung. Tee vee sets of our youth seemed to work much longer that those of today. (sigh)

I have a LG 42” tv and a LG 32” pc monitor.
The colors are accurate.

The LG 42” tv has 3 HDMI and 3 USB ports.
LG 42LN5700 - not made now. Mine is 3 years old.
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889005451
LG sells UHD 4k models now http://www.lg.com/us/super-uhd-tvs

LG 32MA68HY-P 32-Inch IPS Monitor with Display Port and HDMI Inputs $200
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IA9FXAO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The colors are accurate once you fiddle with the controls which are found under the bottom center. It is a joystick button which brings up the on screen controls. Black Level - High and Black Stabilizer 50 and Gamma 0 are the key. I left the colors at the default settings of 50. The greys and black are perfect. Windows 7 Control Panel> Display> Calibrate color I did not have to do anything as their recommendation matched what I already had done in the Menu settings. The glossy screen really is not a distraction.

Quick Settings>
Brightness 100 <- you may want to lower it but for me it is perfect.
Contrast 76

Picture Adjust>
Black Level - High
Sharpness 70
Black Stabilizer 50

Color Adjust>
Gamma 0
Color Temp> Custom

In the beginning, our Samung performed in all ways we could ask. Then, for some reason the power?? board fried. At least DH felt it was that particular board. He turned the angle of the tv from right to left slightly and poof we lost picture and sound. After opening, there was found to be a charred/smoke area around one connection on the board. Which would be wiser - repair work or new TV? The tv prior was not nearly as good; it first lost sound and then the only picture was that of a black band on the bottom of the screen. It’s been over a year or two since we lost that one. At the moment it’s nothing more than a door stop awaiting a trip to Good Will or Salvation Army. Is this the normal lifetime for these sets?

Something will need to be decided soon, now that Xtv is back in business. :-) (yea!)

I have definitely seen all the episodes. I actually watched it from the summer it started as a new show.

I don’t remember Jennifer Beals in the last episode. Who was she? I think Linney was the woman Frasier “ends up” with in Chicago, right? When the family thinks he’s going to San Francisco? And they all thought he was dying, right? Which made it easy for the cast to cry on camera since they were ending a great run.

Even after seeing all episodes multiple times, I can still make it to the bathroom without even a walker.

I believe Beals was the brunette on the plane who sat in seat next to Fraiser who had the window. She was also a psychologist, the woman Fraiser spoke with, telling her about his past 3 weeks. And Linney was the woman he was hoping to meet up with in Chicago. She was the same who spent the night in the old farm house (sleeping in the fold out sofa bed) with Frasier; the farmer’s dead mother in her casket in the living room awaiting the next day’s wake. In “Absolute Power” she played Clint Eastwood’s estranged daughter. It seemed to me of all the women Frasier met and dated, these two had a ‘spark’ which was not seen in his other relationships. LOL I was rooting for the two of them :)
You and I both seem somewhat confused as to how he accepted a job in San Francisco but along the way detoured to Chicago. As for his dying and bequeathing personal items
to family members....Niles was a riot going around sticking his name on everything. Frasier’s bath robe, a bottle of coveted wine. Then Frasier gave Roz the Art Deco mirror and she fell apart LOL In some cases do believe the dialog is remembered.

It’s a good thing that they ended the show on such a good, high note. Sad for fans who love to watch; but better to remember the show with fond memories rather than go down hill dragging us along.

Ah, yes, now I remember. Beals was the one he chatted with on the plane.

That’s right about the old farmhouse and the dead mother in her casket, I had forgotten about all that. Wasn’t she originally a matchmaker who was trying to find him a girlfriend? Frasier was a difficult man to deal with. What a great character.

Some of the episodes were basic Moliere plays. Like the one with Guy the French skier at the mountain house. So many misunderstandings in the lusty night.

And I love the one moment in the series where Kelsey breaks character on camera deliberately like Bob Hope. His ex girlfriend, who is now a children’s book character performing clowny shows, whines in Frasier’s kitchen, “Do you have any idea what it is like, playing the same character for twenty years??!?” And Kelsey / Frasier looks at the camera for one long moment... excellent.

The matchmaker to whom Frasier paid $10,000 to find him a match. Her office was in the same building which housed Fraiser’s apartment. During their first working dinner date where she totally fell to pieces, she said she was living with her mother after moving from Chicago and losing her matchmaking business to her x-husband. This was after she had set him up with several females, the young chick who wasn’t old enough to drink, the professional female who scratched her head, dislodging her wig, and the ‘seamstress’ who was wearing her own creation and offered to make him a shirt or any other apparel he might wish as she had tons of fabric left over. Fraiser found her to be less than truthful, she told him she’d return his money and begin to walk out the door, breaking her heel on the way. She then began crying, banging her broken shoe on the floor screaming ‘What a crappy crappy day’ It was then she and he began again, a more understanding Fraiser who was still out of pocket $10,000. Again, the building situation (as the Chicago/San Francisco scene) seemed to go over my head She lived with her mother, her ‘office’ in Frasier’s building. Given the building also included Frasier’s home it was also thought this would be Linney’s home. Must be the zoning laws which warp my understanding here. Given Seattle’s political atmosphere, one would think an office would never be allowed in an exclusive high rise condo. Well, no matter it was still a great run. And seeing the episodes still brings laughs.

BTW - the farm house where they had to stay the night...
did you recognize the husband who worked on the car? He was a character on News Radio (the comedy series that had Phil Hartman before his death)

And, Frasier....in the episode IIRC where his son comes for a visit and he is now into “Goth”ic) A pizza delivery guy delivers a pizza -— the guy is the actor who now plays Kenny the station manager. May be mistaken about the particular episode, but do know he was seen in one delivering pizza and wearing a long haired wig :)

“children’s book character performing clowny shows”
That was more than his x girlfriend - it was his first x wife
Laurie Metcalf played Nanny G. Laurie played Rozanne’s sister in Rozanne.

And did you happen to catch the eppy with Buzz Aldrin - astronaut?

LOL - almost better than Hitchcock... on a completely different level

You have a better memory than I do! Such detail. Yes, I’ve seen them all. Didn’t recognize the News Radio guy, if I knew him. But yes, that was a mistake on Frasier to have the Kenny guy delivering the pizza. Or not!

Like when Pheobe’s brother appeared in the show Friends as just a guy on the street.

Frasier dating his male boss, one of the best episodes. “Dad wanted to tell you but I won the coin toss.”

Memory not that great! Had to check to see what episode Frasier dated his male boss LOL He brought him home for Dauphnie and I had forgotten that line. Remember when Martin went to the opera and was stuck entertaining a mother and daughter. He was interested more in the daughter but mother was coming on strong. He told her he was gay. Mother told daughter and daughter who owned an art gallery had a gay partner. An evening was had at the Fraiser household and the partner coming onto Martin. Niles and Frasier having their laugh and Martin attempting to remain ‘balanced’ on that tight wire of deception.

Frasier and his female boss - that was one hot episode for which he paid dearly :-) “Bad Boy”;”Dirty Girl”

Why did Frasier pay dearly for the Dirty Girl episode (s) with Mercedes Ruehl? Those were great episodes. That was a great match with their sharp dialogue and the love hate thing.

Yes, I love the opera queen episode. Excellent. They did many funny gay episodes, mostly because most of the actors and writers were gay. Very funny scenarios. The only main male character played by a straight actor was frasier.

It had old cartoons (BPC—Before PC), silent movies, dramas, B flicks.

They must have also had "still copyrighted/paying royalties to widows & family" stuff on there...that is what gets "pirate" video sites pulled/deleted.

He and Roz both paid the price; the show moved to the Mojave dessert of no man’s land in its broadcast time slot The sexual tension between the two had us LOL. And their separation in her last episode when the two parted at the airport was just as sharp. His finding she’d forgotten her cat (p***y),carrying the travel kennel from the airport and sneezing while doing so. Just read she was in 5 episodes which is a surprise as their relationship flowed from one to the next and it seems this was one expanded episode.

Another great line. Frasier standing in front of the antique standing mirror just purchased, wrapped in a knitted blanket & stroking a cat he was holding. “Dear God I look like Aunt Shirley” LOL
