This epilogue to the fires may turn out to be even more devastating to life and property damage than the fires themselves. All they are missing now is a massive series of earthquakes.

Exactly what I was eluding to !! You nailed it before I even chimed in with my opine. Look closely at the rapidily increasing quantity and magnitude of earthquakes worldwide. Then consider the global impact of the 2nd and 3rd order effects of the CA situation

Jimmy Buffet, nailed it in his song, Fruitcakes:

“Paradise - Lost and found. Paradise - take a look around. I was out in California where I hear they have it all. They got riots, fires and mud-slides. They got sushi in the mall. Water bars and Brontosaurs Chinese modern lust. Shake and bake life with the quake. The secret’s in the crust.”

Who says he’s just a songwriter?

We were within a few miles of the epicenter of the Northridge quake in ‘94. Lost a lot of contents of the house (anything breakable that went down was shattered, including furniture). We were lucky as our house didn’t have any structural damage. Forever after, whenever I was awakened in the night, my heart would race in anticipation of another big earthquake. Since moving to Arizona, no worries about earthquakes. I loved living in California, but I suspect my heart and health are doing better now that I don’t worry about the earthquakes. Prayers for those affected by the mudslides.....you don’t see them coming, you just hear them and by then it is too late to do anything about them.

From last late afternoon report, 17 dead and another 17 are missing. At that time only 75% of the area had received a first search.

Over 30 MILES of U S Hwy 101 are closed due to mud & debris.

They will be helicoptering water & food supplies into that area for quite awhile.

California, if the “liberals” don’t drive you crazy the natural disasters just might kill you.

I travelled in California enough to see the whole state. Loved the inland area, the coast not so much.

Met loads of nice people, mostly inland, but there isn’t enough money in the world to get me to live in the coastal region.

Was hearing Mass one Sunday in ANZA, CA when an earthquake hit. Later learned it was a 7 on the Richter scale. Dust falling from the rafters. Everything in the church shaking. We went outside and the priest finished the Mass in the parking lot.

My daughter and her family stayed at a home down the hill from Oprah after fleeing the fires in Ojai. That home is now gone.

It’s terrible up in Santa Barbara. Those mountains are high, and mudslides bring huge boulders with them. One man said it was 20’ high - that is a two-story building. Meanwhile, where is our fearless/ feckless idiot of a Governor? He has not peeked his head out from the Alzheimer’s Home to say spit. I did call him this morning and gave his answering-guy an earful. Moonbeam, absolutely.
