Obviously the ONLY answer to this problem is...High Speed Rail!

Just gotta pay enough.
The same with agriculture or dishwashers in restaurants or whatever.
And that’s a lot of what the Trump admin is about.
Raise wages for driving, and I might take it up at 60. But my son tried it a few years ago & said the regulations made it slave wages.
Fake News by Cheap Labor Globalists.
Globalist Republicans want to import more dangerous 3rd world drivers.
SHORTAGE of drivers - Republican Liars.
SCARCITY of resources - Correct Economic’s terminology.
AT WHAT PRICE?? Always ask that question.
Republicans are economically illiterate.
And, they keep cutting down the amount of hours the truckers can drive-i know a few who quit when they had to start using the e-logs.
I’m confident that more regulation and taxes can solve this problem.
Some of our drivers are grossing $75K to $90K per year and we recently raised their subsistence from $30/nite to $45/nite. We haul hazmat and have a real hard time finding qualified applicants. I also think a lot of younger folks just don’t want all the hours involved.
Get rid of legalized pot so job candidates are drug free. Pay good.
Why are we not using trains for the distance hauls?
Say what?
Just start hiring the men who are applying for the jobs. Let the market determine the pay rates. Then you will get more and better applicants.
Brazil Trucker Strike Worsens As Petrobras Staff Plan Walkout
(Brazil is almost the same size as the USA)
I’m a driver(female, age 62). I like the work but the regs and long hours are a pain. Sometimes you get a DOT inspector that’s hell bound and determined to find a violation. Elogs have their good points especially for delivery work with frequent stops, but can be a problem with running out of time. One of my runs is 665 miles and if I have a heavy load its tough to make it in 11 hours. Add road construction and accident traffic and it’s no wonder my blood pressure is up. And if the bp is too high my cdl can be suspended.
I’ll drive for $300k a year...
Pay people, they will come. All I hear are horror stories.
It is a good way to see the country and you can pile up some serious cash.
