FWIW, the state is already ridiculous about those with dual residency.
My in-laws became FL residents decades ago when my f-i-l retired.
When my m-i-l passed away a couple years ago, for estate tax purposes, we had to prove that they had been FL residents that WHOLE time, making sure they were under the 183 day out of state rule. They had to keep EVERY SINGLE receipt and airline ticket to prove it.
Coming back for a funeral or wedding? Better prove it and count your days.
And they wonder why people are leaving in droves.......
