Acosta is just a guy who scratched and clawed his way to what he thought was a position of very high importance, from which he could influence the world. Unfortunately, the profession he chose is not supposed to exist to provide a soapbox or power base from which a given journalist can elevate their self-importance. Journalists are supposed to provide a crucial service to the community and nation - not dictate the direction of the community and nation.
Trump won’t let people like Acosta wield power over the American political system. He expects them to ‘report’, just like we expect doctors to diagnose and treat, carpenters to build, and entertainers to entertain. No one is all that special, including Trump. Ironically, I think Trump himself believes this - despite all the comments about his ego. Unfortunately, people like Acosta expect to be ‘special’, and can’t accept being just a person doing a job - as we all are.
