Horses do like to run. I use to ride a retired steeplechaser. When we rode the trails from Williamson County north toward Nashville and approached the Iroquois Steeplechase grounds, the old 19 year-old grew hyper. He would get wild and excited just to be on the steeplechase track again. But on any ground Colonel Dee liked to stretch out and gain speed.

If we are going to have driverless cars 🚗, then why not riderless horses 🐎?

Life is tough enough when you’re short. It’s even tougher if you’re a jockey.

...mounted atop ungulates called "horses," during a sporting competition called a "race."

Each horse is assigned a weight to carry in a race, depending on the conditions of the race; that weight is made up of a jockey and his tack, and sometimes added weights if needed. The average assigned weight is 113–118 pounds but can be anywhere from 101 to 129 pounds. ... Most jockeys weigh between 106 and 110 pounds.

Horses are fundamentally herd animals, Bodexpress just kept running with the herd even without his jockey. And of course, thoroughbred race horses are bred to run, and they love to run.

Now wait a minute!
If the jockey was missing his spleen, then the entire jockey never crossed the finish line!
FOUL!
DQ!

Some horses love racing and like to win.

I like the idea of driverless cars, because my car could just drive itself to work every day while I stay in bed or watch TV.

I heard he did two full loops. And would have taken 3 if they hadn’t finally corralled him. Frisky little critter. Feelin’ his oats!

He/she was running with the herd. He/she wanted to a part of the team.

It's just instinctual behavior for any herd animal to run with the pack.

I thought the horse was a champ. No one whipping him to run but he ran and kept up with the best.

Happens all the time in steeple chasing.

Riderless horse does not count.

What would happen if a jockey threw his horse and the horseless jockey won the race?

You failed to mention whether the officials were ignorant
know-nothings, or studied professionals.

The former would
have fined the horse for using his horse power with
no additional passengers to share the ride in that lane.

The latter would have immediately cracked open
the champagne and poured it over the crowd standing in the winner's circle.

They are disqualified once their rider is lost.

Same thing, a jockey without a horse or a horse without a jockey would be disqualified. But if a jockey did do that, all horses would become dog food and the jockey would become an Olympic star.
