I hesitate to make an example of one, but the single time I ever ate at a Wendy’s the burger was bone dry, tough and tasteless. That was in the 80’s so that was a 35 year bad burger experience.
Wendy’s burgers used to be good when they were “hot and juicy”. Now they’re just dry and rubbery.
See...no one seems to remember: Wendys already DID do breakfast. And it was a flop.
IIRC, it was in the 90’s when they tried it. It went nowhere, and they stopped it.
It’s kinda funny. A few years ago, Chick-fil-A hired a company to survey people about fast food breakfasts to see where they ranked. According to the poll they took, more people ranked Wendys over CFA for breakfasts...and Wendys didn’t even HAVE a breakfast menu. It made the folks at CFA change their marketing for their breakfast menus.
Really late to the party. MickyD and BK have had breakfast for years. And Jack, which I’ve never gone to in my home town. And What-a-Burger.
I seriously doubt if Wendy is going to be a major concern to McD on this front.
I’m a food snob, only eat organic stuff and grass-fed beef.
BUT I really enjoy a McDonald’s burger in a pinch. i.e: after four hours with the dentist in my mouth, only a McDonald’s burger would do because I needed to go home to sleep and not cook. Their coffee is actually very good and I like their milkshakes a lot. I have 2 or 3 milkshakes per year.
Our local McD’s just got rid of “All Day Breakfast” items a few weeks ago. The well-run Wendy’s 2 blocks away will benefit greatly!
Once up a time I about lived at Wendy’s. Now I so rarely will go there. The prices went through the roof, and the beef can no longer be found in the bun. The French Fries that used to be so much like home cooked are now a greasy mess.
Here is the old “Where’s the Beef” commercial. It is sad to think that Wendy’s now has the smallest hamburgers.

Does anyone else remember those thick cube shaped burgers that they used to make? Those were so good.
If they want to be a player in the breakfast market they are going to have to step up their coffee game.
The key is to offer breakfasts that can be eaten while driving to work.
Most people get breakfast at a fast food joint when they are running late.
Wendy’s used to offer a great breakfast omelette with hash brown potato coins bacon and cheese and green onion and coffee. One of their better offers
Wendy’s did breakfast back in 1985. Omelets to order, breakfast sandwiches, and “hash rounds.” Pretty decent, actually. I was disappointed they ever stopped. Hope they go with the omelets again.
Wendys has been serving breakfast not far from my home. I’ve had it twice and have no desire to do it again.

Wendy’s breakfast is way down the list.
