*Rules for Round 1:*

Place ALL 10 songs in order of your preference. NO TIES. NO OMISSIONS ("I hate it so much I refuse to list it"). Such "ballots" will not be counted. ALL 10 SONGS MUST BE LISTED.

Songs will be awarded points from 9 points for the #1 song on your list, to 0 for the last.

Each song will be prioritized by point total - greatest # points is #1, etc. Polling ties will have a run-off.

I will give a week for this round before we go to brackets, to garner more interest and votes, and test how much time may usually be needed. I plan on a week span for every round but may change as needed.

(NOTE: One does not have to play every single round to participate, although that would be preferred!)

DUE DATE: Sunday Jan 19 @6:00pm EST

Which group performed before more live audiences of 10,000 and of 50,000 and of 100,000 ... in both teh 50s? 60s? 70s? 80s? and 90s?

Cliff Barrows, George Beverly Shea, The Billy Graham Evangelistic team holds all the live performance records. The record in Africa, the record in Asia, the record in Europe, the record in Latin America, the record in the US.

The only thing that comes close in competition is the annual events in Mecca.

The secular world is 3rd class on personal appearances.

When Catholics and Protestants sing the same song world wide, as they do for Christmas and Easter, Those are the all time records. In May both Catholic and Protestant will sing HOW GREAT THOU ART on the same Sunday. That is the largest non-Holiday song of all time.

Although Don Covay's version of "Pony Time," the original, reached only #60 on the Hot Hundred, I prefer it to Chubby Checker's.

It's crazy that Elvis would be 8th and The Locomotion would be 7th, but the other songs are even better.

Thanks for putting this together. Should be great fun!

Rock ‘n roll is here to stay,
It will never die...
It was meant to be that way,
Though I don’t know why...
I don’t care what people say,
Rock ‘n roll is here to stay!

AMEN! :)

Just a tidbit for the upcoming survey.

There is NO “dominance” in this range of top songs unless you think 4 out of 70 is dominant (Beatles).

Confession - I’m more of a 70s and 80s guy. I listened to #5 through 10 on my list for the first time tonight (as far as I can remember), and I hope to never hear them again.
