The stock market is indicating that most investors are not really very bright and are easily frightened.

I won’t insult your intelligence by suggesting you believe this.

Well that’s it, we’re doomed. Nothing can be done.

That is exactly not my point.

There is still time for Republicans to turn the situation around, but they will have to work.

Volunteer for a campaign. Sign up to be a poll worker, or a poll watcher. Do something other than bask in the prospect of a Republican landslide.

The stock market is a great indicator, so much so that it has predicted 15 of the last 9 recessions.

Pay NO attention to the stock market. Even if it wasn’t manipulated as Hell (and it most assuredly IS), it wouldn’t be a great predictive tool. With the manipulation, it is pretty much worthless in this regard.

I don’t buy it. This is an indicator when the Stock Market is tanking on its own because the underlying factors are built in, not changeable, and directly causing it.

And when that happens, changes in policy take years to enact and more time for the changes to express themselves.

The stock market isn’t tanking on its own due to underlying major issues.

The stock market is tanking due to panic, not real substantive baked in issues.

Our debt is a real issue, but that isn’t what is causing it.

Also, you asserted that conservatives are complacent and asked “What effort would you make to undo the election if a Democrat wins?”

First, I don’t feel we are complacent, and the historic numbers of Trump voters turning out in primaries so far (plus rally audiences) clearly show that far from being complacent, we are enthusiastic.

Secondly, we don’t think of how we are going to “undo the election” if Trump loses. That simply isn’t in our DNA. It isn’t the way we roll.

Without reading all the other posts (which I will do) I suspect it may be a rough ride for you with this thread, but...like the coronavirus, I expect you will get over it as most of us do. Good luck.

If
BY RUDYARD KIPLING

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Well of course the Corona scare is manufactured. It is election year. You haven’t seen anything yet. Uncle Joe will most likely fold either before the convention or shortly after. Remember the Dead Mel Carnahan sympathy vote? This is going to go down along those lines but Uncle Joe fades into obscurity of dementia and that will be their sympathy vote. My bets are after the convention when the delegated have spoken. Party elders will insert their candidate of choice because the convention is over and the people need a choice in November other than Trump. Now whom do you presume they will fold in as the replacement? Or should I ask it this way, who has been poking their head up quite a bit lately like a gopher and chirping a bit?

Just like in 2008, the stock market’s behavior over the past two weeks is signaling that the Democrats will win in November.

Say what?

Soroznazi has brought down several nations and bourses. Right now is the perfect time for him to short down the USA stock market. This is the easy way to derailing the larger economy and take away a major support for PDJT’s re-election. The Chinese virus is not going to cause an economic collapse , it would only seriously impact a few business sectors - bringing down the stock market will pull down many more

November is a very long way off in political and economic terms.

Yes, Republicans are far too complacent.

My attitude is, regardless how positive things might look at any given moment, we should treat this like a football game where if we are ahead by 20 points over our most despised rival, then we brutally run the score up by another 40. Absolutely no mercy. We are never too far ahead of a corrupt Democrat (redundancy).

These insane people are literally at war with us. We must defeat them unequivocally, we must humiliate them, if we want to have any hope of saving the Republic. A second Donald Trump term is the kind of payback for these evil bastards that I’ve been praying for for decades.

We re-elect Donald Trump or we will be physically defending ourselves with our firearms in the not-too-distant future. You can take that prediction to the bank.

Right now, Republicans are too complacent.

Do you have any evidence of that, or are you just spouting bullsh!t and expecting people to believe it because you said so?

The first "Trump 2020" signs I came across in my travels were already up in March. That was March of 2019.

The only Democratic candidate whose sign I have seen anywhere is a pathetic "Beto 2020" sign that some nitwit in the next town put next to his long driveway -- and apparently forgot about, since it is still there.

If so, I’d predict a GOP sweep of Congress in 2022, and a rapid impeachment + removal of he/she/it that occupies the White House.

I am just back after reading the posts to this point, T Ruth, and you need to re-evaluate how you interpret events.

I read up to your post at #45, and not a single one of them even came close to falling into the bucket of “...the dominant response assuming that victory is already won; and no one taking up the idea of doing the work necessary to achieve victory...”

Honestly.

As with the coronavirus, being cautious is prudent, and keeping it in context is important. I feel a good degree of optimism that President Trump is going to win re-election. But “victory is already won”? Not even close and I did not see a single post up to #45 that indicated that mindset.

After a scum like Obama was elected twice, I don’t trust the electorate. And Trump winning shows how dangerous that mindset of assuming victory is. But do we have reason for optimism?

Yes, unequivocally, we do. If you take the time to watch the desperate antics of the Left, you would see that their pessimism is nearly a direct reflection of our optimism, which is appropriate.
