“Is it the same bar owner that came out initially and said that she had no clue”
Interesting I remember that bit of news now. I wonder how many bar owners they have.
Now that the funeral is over, the media has to keep the George Floyd story alive. When does it end?
The only information I have it that (1) It's from Hoft and (2) it's clickbait.
That about guarantees that it's fake news.
This development, IF TRUE, could very well go to the question of intent. In fact, we need to explore the personal relationship and conflicts between the two men that might have played into the outcome.
The problem with this strategy is that it still doesnt quite fit into a second-degree murder definition, at least in Minnesota, unless they can establish that Chauvin formed a specific intent to kill in the moment based on that previous conflict over pay and alleged accusations of racism. That seems like pretty weak sauce as a motive; theyre better off sticking with the theory that Chauvin committed felonious assault on Floyd and killed him without forming that intent. That fits neatly within second-degree murder statute, assuming they can establish the felonious assault; otherwise, the jury might come back with manslaughter instead.
That might not be the last word on charges, however. Prosecutors could also be thinking about a grand-jury indictment for first-degree murder. The state and the county cant file that charge without a grand jury, but they are under considerable pressure from the Floyd family and activists to escalate the charges to that level. For that, they would definitely need to form both intent and premeditation, but the latter does not need to be a lengthy process.
If Chauvin formed an intent to kill Floyd sometime during the arrest, that might be enough and keeping his knee on Floyds neck for eight-plus minutes even after he passed out could be evidence of that intent, and perhaps the short premeditation. Still a reach, but they could include the lesser charges as a backstop, too.
At the very least, this report from CBS does establish that the two knew each other well enough to recognize each other, as the Floyd family has insisted all along.
That might make this a much more personal issue, especially for jurors who watch that video and wonder why Chauvin seemed so determined to keep his knee on Floyds neck.
RE: The only information I have it that (1) It’s from Hoft and (2) it’s clickbait.
The only problem with that is:
1) He REFERS to the CBS News ( he sources his information from a mainstream news outlet )
2) The Nightclub where they allegedly worked was IDENTIFIED: El Nuevo Rodeo Club, which means everything said in this article can be checked if it’s fake or not.
3) The same report has been made at ABC Eyewitness News, which Hoft refers to in the article. See here:
The only thing that gives us pause is the self-congratulatory tone of the first paragraph of the article ( e.g., “we reported it earlier” ). But then, such braggadocio isn’t unique. Rush Limbaugh and Donald Trump are known to have this kind of tone. But we don’t call these folks purveyors of fake news do we?
You would think that somebody in the media would be interested in where Floyd obtained a counterfeit bill.
************
Bingo! A not insignificant aspect of this incident.
The media is only interested in things that fit the liberal narrative and ignores all else.
Unless the counterfeit bill George was passing was purely coincidentally in his possession, it appears George might have stolen some product for personal use.
Keep in mind that counterfeit bills are not just handed out haphazardly but are in fact carefully distributed to be exchanged in larger batches where they will not be detected. Certain high-end retail outlets are known to be sloppy about checking bills, for example.
Thinking out loud here, but it might have been no coincidence that the officer responding to the report of a counterfeit bill having been passed was Officer Chauvin.
And where in those articles is mention of a counterfeiting operation?
You’ve been smoking from Hoft’s crack stash.
I think YOU are the one smoking and not understanding what I wrote.
Please re-read what I wrote and don’t conflate my OPINION, with Jim Hoft’s.
My first post started with the words “There’s been talk...”. I heard this info from folks I know in Minneapolis.
Also, I Never made the guarantee that this was accurate. I said that everything will be revealed in the trial.
Nothing you said invalidates what is in the article.
Female claims she “thinks” Chauvin was intimidated by blacks. Male says “they bumped heads.” Hardly proof this was related to what happened on Memorial Day. Keith Ellison will need more than that to introduce allegations in a court of law.
RE: . Keith Ellison will need more than that to introduce allegations in a court of law.
Exactly what allegations did Ellison have in mind?
Ssssh! Let them go with it. This narrative takes racism completely out of the picture.
It surely shows a rush to judgement as to why this whole thing happened and makes people wonder should we have looted and burned business over this personal score that went too far?
Whatever his corrupt, little racist mind can come up with.
Keep in mind that counterfeit bills are not just handed out haphazardly but are in fact carefully distributed to be exchanged in larger batches where they will not be detected.
***********
Understand but all operations get a little complacent and sloppy over time. Established ‘protocols’ get loose and perhaps a few bills get picked up for various reasons. Then again, maybe it was just happenstance and Floyd innocently wound up with the counterfeit bill, but its curious that we haven’t heard whether it was a fake bill or not. Seems it would be an easy thing to quickly confirm.
Its also curious that Floyd entered the store with two other persons — a man and a lady — and the man had previously attempted to pass of a $20 bill and an employee at the store refused to take it. Who were these other two people and do they have a criminal history? More potentially insightful details that might shed light on this case.

You seriously said that! It’s been the picture from the start, you think any of these folks rioting and looting gave two chit’s about the death of a career criminal. Every time something like this happens it’s about race, just ask them. We’ve been having a race war shoved down out throat by the media and various political groups since the late 60’s. If I stop a person and he’s black, I’m a racist. If I arrest a black man for a criminal act, I’m a racist. If I vote conservative, I’m a racist. If I’m white, I’m a racist.
The fact that I’m white, a Vet, still a Peace Officer in the state of Texas, in the oil and gas business, drive a truck, married my wife 50 years ago, raised 3 beautiful girls and live in the great state of Texas. This makes me one of the most hated racists in the US, Ask the media and ask the looters if I’m wrong. It’s always been about race.
I think it was the owner of the club who stated the two men may not even know each other since one worked inside and the other outside.
Rooster, thanks for lending your expertise to the case. By noticing that money laundering and counterfeit operations are not a good mix for criminals, you sharpened the issue. And this case has suddenly changed to a greater enigma.
