Believe me, I have nothing good to say about Souter, so that can be dropped. But are there ANY Democrat-Souters, Democrat-appointed justices that will ever vote with us on tough issues, or even admit that the Constitution is the ultimate authority? Certainly not among those appointed by Clinton and Obama, and no way in the future. I’ve already named 2 Republican-appointed justices who totally respect(ed) the Constitution and most others come very close...slipping up once in while, though. Roberts, I agree, gets closer to the middle, getting it right, sometimes (such as the recent death penalty cases). But where are the Democrat-justices? We all know that answer.

So the idea is to ACCEPT the fact that some Republican judges are screw-ups, because they’re human, but if you look at the history of the screw-up justices it is very rare that they all screw up at the same time - so get a 6-3 Republican majority on the court and the screw-ups will drop by 80% (since we can now lose one), get a 7-2, and the screw-ups will drop by another 80%. Get an 8-1 or 9-0 majority, and then BIG THINGS could happen (maybe), like declaring Social Security and Medicare unconstitutional, since they are not in the Constitution.

...but how will any of that happen if Republicans sit back and let Democrats appoint all the judges?

Read my other post - we DO NOT get cooked if we can get the court 6-3 or 7-2. We actually WIN, instead of losing for the rest of our lives and the rest of our children’s lives (if that matters).

Very true...

Like it or not the Ds do ‘stick together’ and will close the ranks if one of ‘theirs’ gets in some unethical ‘difficulty’ while the Rs will go out and ‘buy the rope, tar and feathers’ when an R ‘strays’.

Funny how out of 400 or so Ds probably couldn’t get 5 of them to order the EXACT same meal off the same menu yet will vote lockstep on no matter the issue 98% of the time with the only dissidents being ‘named’ as they may be in an upcoming tight race and if the vote is ‘solid’ they may be given permission to ‘stray’ if for no other reason than to hold their seat.

Of course it gets so bad now that if an R strays from the fold they are most generally branded as traitors no matter what their conscience or beliefs may be.

Politics has turned into a ‘popularity’ contest where the only seemingly goal is to get reelected which the Congresscritters have to ‘hit the ground’ running and start raising money for the next campaign only 2 years away.

AND every 2 years the ‘wags’ will say...
The most important election of our lifetime, like it doesn’t happen every two years.

I think a good start would be to limit contributions to be only from those you will represent...may be a bit harsh but there is no reason for Texas and New York money deciding who the Mayor of Podunk Falls will be.

Face it in local elections one can own all the business in town yet if he doesn’t live in the town limits, he has no vote BUT is surely able to attempt to ‘buy’ all the candidates....

Roberts claim that the justices aren’t biased, they just call balls and strikes, shows how the Left, which he has become a part of, looks down on the hoi polloi. Roberts would’ve called fauci’s pitch a strike.

With Soros (and those like him), I would agree with that! Rich conservatives vastly outnumber them, but are total tightwads with their money, or, just as likely, afraid of the Brownshirts if they give to the ‘wrong’ candidates.

though. Roberts, I agree, gets closer to the middle, - and then BIG THINGS could happen (maybe), like declaring Social Security and Medicare unconstitutional, since they are not in the Constitution.

OK, we have a fundamental difference of opinion on "Republicans"

The second part of your statement will NEVER happen with Pirates like Roberts

One soon to be revelation of the "Republican" Senators will be the vote on the latest FED member - She believes in REAL MONEY - as in GOLD. Will she be voted to the FED - Will she actually do / be able to do anything about the coming inflation

I am a LIMITED G'ment kind - we have WAY too many laws, and we are debasing the Dollar.

People like Roberts, Romney, as private citizens are irrelevant, some like McCain are even courageous, However as Politicians, they become tyrants.

At least the Greeks voted these Tyrants off the Island into 10yr. exile

...except they are NOT all like Roberts, which is my point.

Yea, it’s easy to nitpick and imply Democrat judges would be better for the country (unless you’re able to tell us another alternative)...but it is not even close between them (other than Souter).

Sorry.

Ok, I think we’re on the same page - which is that anyone who considers Roberts no better than Democrat judges is an idiot.

Welcome to the idiot club because Roberts can be just as bad as RGB when it comes to destroying the Constitution, Gorsuch ripped several pages out of it last week with his gender ruling.

“can be”

Sure, and there was a race-related case where Thomas sided with the liberals - so I guess he’s a sellout too and we should all vote Third Party?

You guys can do better.

Well, it's not like fanatical partisan Democrat ACLU lawyer Michael Simon is married to anyone like fanatical partisan Resistance Democrat Suzanne Bonamici, who represents Oregon's 1st CONgriftional District in the US House of Representatives...

Oh, wait...

Note the date - July 16th.

Wonder if Suzanne had any "influence" on the final decision of the "court".

“So can Roberts and Gorsuch Bib.”

So could have Reagan (who gave us Sandy, who was far worse than Gorsuch and worse even worse than Roberts) And so, I guess, Reagan was a sellout to the this country too, by your standards.

Likewise, the country would have been better off if Carter was re-elected, I guess, by your standards.

Not a sell out but certainly he made some decisions that turned out pretty bad. Fact is some of the worst Supreme Court Judges were appointed by Republicans. Those judges were the result of compromising with the enemy that would never compromise with you, when they have the upper hand.

It is clearly obvious that SOMEBODY has SOMETHING On Roberts. Probably won’t come out for years.
