I say hold the hearings. After the Kavanagh hearings, Republicans gained two Senate sits in 2018. It’s entirely possible that the Judiciary Committee hearings could result in the addition of one or two more seats in this year’s election. Don’t forget, Kamala Harris sits on the committee and was particularly rude and obnoxious late time.
And, if not her, there are a few other Dem Senators who probably won’t be able to help themselves.
They have a spot for Supreme Court Justices. Oliver Wendell Holmes is among those buried there, as is John Paul Stevens, and a few others.

McConnell should just state that given the history of the abuse heaped on Republican picks— Bork, Thomas and Kavanaugh- that he has decided that at this time in history we don’t need to be more divided and then call for the vote. Call them out and remind everyone.

I don’t think Mitch knows yet. Heck the nominee hasn’t even been named yet. There are a handful of Senators who have wrecked many a vote and we are down to 41 or so already.
