“STFU. You obviously are very ignorant petty little man”

That’s not very nice.

Also Chivington.

If you want Chivington on the list, that is fine by me.

My list were men that made Major General in the U.S. Army.
Chivington was a Colonel.

“My list were men that made Major General in the U.S. Army. Chivington was a Colonel.”

Chivington deserves your admiration under your previously announced criteria: “they won by the complete and utter destruction of their enemies.”

As does Lt. William Calley.

But if you want to add new criteria, as an after-thought, to exclude Chivington for some reason I can't stop you.

If you want Chivington or Calley on the list that is your decision. I didn’t include Genghis Khan or Scipio Africanus either.

“I didn't include Genghis Khan or Scipio Africanus either.”

Those would be strange names for an American warship.

But then I've never understood the blue-state culture's love of Sherman's and Chivington’s blood lust.

“From what i gather the confederates were not fighting to maintain the slaves they were fighting for FREEDOM from the north.”

Confederates were fighting for freedom from the North so that they could continue the practice of involuntary servitude and the right to buy and sell human beings as if they are common farm animals.

Well, you got me there.

I still don't like your heroes Chivington and Sherman just because “they won by the complete and utter destruction of their enemies.”

“Confederates were fighting for freedom from the North so that they could continue the practice of involuntary servitude and the right to buy and sell human beings as if they are common farm animals.”

True, the Confederate constitution was pro-slavery. But then the United States constitution was pro-slavery.

True, the Confederate president took an oath to protect and defend his nation’s pro-slavery constitution. But then U.S. president Lincoln took an oath - twice - to protect and defend his nation’s pro-slavery constitution.

After the emancipation proclamation, one of those presidents added a slave state to his nation.

Do you know which one?

Your hero is Chivington, I never mentioned the man, nor considered him. If you want to name a ship after him, that is your call.

“Your hero is Chivington, I never mentioned the man, nor considered him.”

Who posted: “If you want Chivington on the list, that is fine by me”?

Why would anyone say having Chivington on a list of possible U.S. Navy ship namesakes “is fine by me”?

You insulted me. And yes, you are extremely ignorant. Research Bush and then get back to me. I won’t wait.

What you want to name a warship is your business. If you want to name it Chivington or Hillary Clinton that is your call.

“If you want to name it Chivington or Hillary Clinton that is your call.”

You have misunderstood - and imaged more.

Chivington is not a hero of mine. He wore Union blue but I don't guess there is any way you could have known that.

He could be a hero of yours based on your original criteria of namesakes: “they won by the complete and utter destruction of their enemies.”

Since you have become a little more thoughtful about your criteria. You are to be congratulated.

Yes, I knew of Chivington and the Sand Creek massacre in the early 60s. Also knew of Custer and the Washita River massacre.

suppose you admire Quantrill or Bill Anderson because they wore gray

Note to self: he doesn't like stand-up with edge.

I guess right about now you'd like to talk about anything other than your simple, but ill-advised, ship naming criteria: “they won by the complete and utter destruction of their enemies.”

Not at all. Would name a ship for Quantrill?
