All of these prideful “I’ll handle it” types are in for probably a bigger rude awakening than those who don’t have squat prepared. All of the guns and ammo in the world won’t be enough when it’s their turn.

16 And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’
18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’
20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
My seed stash looks better and better every day. And my chickens are laying eggs faster than we can use them. I’ve even started waterglassing some.
I’ve been stocking up on canning lids every chance I get. Mostly Tattlers, but I’ve also been buying some of the off-brand single-use kind. I figure the off-brand should hold up fine for waterbath canning, but I’ll stick with the name-brand or the Tattlers for pressure canning.
I have no idea if it’s going to get as bad as some people are predicting. But self-sufficiency is it’s own reward.
