We have lots of “fires”, but we put most of them out.

The ecology of the Western US was reliant upon fire as a natural part of the ecosystem before the creation of fire suppression. We are very good at suppressing fires. We are prohibited by environmentalist and the courts from having controlled fires to manage the land when such fires can be a lazy and controlled fire that removes ground fuels.

We now have very unhealthy conditions on much of the land in the Western US because we have more vegetation than the land can support based on moisture levels. This is a multi-faceted problem with many pieces of the puzzle.

We will NEVER prevent all wildfires. In hot and dry phases we will remain vulnerable to mega-fires with proper wind conditions. This happened well before civilization moved West and it will continue to happen. What we could do is use controlled burns to mitigate the risks of such fires and create a healthier environment on these lands. Instead, we refuse to reduce the fuel loads and as such the vegetation is under stress (very dry and very vulnerable to pine beetle and other pests) and is more vulnerable to fire.

There is a political part of the equation as environmentalists will sue over one tree. We have too many trees. We need more logging and thinning. People complain about smoke from controlled fires even though it’s much better than the choking smog of a mega-fire so land management through fire is impossible.

It’s a mess. We have some forests and areas in my region that are simply waiting for the spark and it will be off and running because the agencies we pay to manage the forests are not allowed to do so by our courts and politicians who bow down to the environmentalists. It’s asinine.

Nobody is claiming it’s never happened before.

It’s the increasing frequency and intensity that is what Jesus Himself foretold would happen.

And increasing intensity overall, does NOT mean record breaking, that nothing in the past could be worse.

Go ahead and blow it off. But take note that Jesus is not a liar.

Those who heed Jesus warnings will take note.

Last year, and the year before. Don’t remember what year the Biscuit Fire was. Or the name of the fire that ripped through southern Oregon before that one. Trees, lightning....nothing new under the sun.

Yup. And the government has no business managing these lands.

They are under trust management and it has failed.

20% of timber sale proceeds/land use proceeds are to go to local school districts.
Thats a fact nobody will talk about!

Jesus foretold increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters as birth pangs before His coming.

For all the naysayers, I kind of have to wonder just how bad it has to be before they acknowledge that it’s happening instead of dismissing it off hand as hysteria and hyperbole.

They logged off as much burned timber as legally possible in southern Oregon. A lot of that is under federal control.

Of coarse not, why be practical and common sense when you can live in an imaginary perfect world.........except for those huge unmanageable firestorms that result from neglect.

The 1910 fire is known as THE BIG BURN. Read a book on it. Have and read a book on Pestigo.
That picture earlier is Russia. I have that 1/35 fire truck in a Chernobyl diorama kit.

Actually if you read MEGAFIRE they are burning differently today because the grasses growing after a burn are different. Been a few years since I read the book.

AMEN. These signs are the mere contractions, the labor pangs are yet to come before The Bridegroom appears with kids of angels and Great Power and Great Glory. This The World will know soon.

It does not matter what grows where. Rates of spread (ROS) and intensity are all predictable by fuel models and competent calculation. There are many classes and studies on this topic. The chemical formula for wildland burning is nearly the exact opposite of photosynthesis, which is nothing new and is unchanging. The chemical formula for burning has not changed, will not change, cannot change. Anyone who says different, like the reporter, doesn’t understand the science.

They are not more intense or more frequent.

When settlers came to California they complained the skies were always smoky. Fires were common.

Then in the 20th century, they tried to put every fire out which has resulted in a tremendous fuel load.

These fires, at the moment, are lightning strikes in remote locations. Add Clinton’s roadless initiative to further limit access and the forest service not allowing wheeled vehicles, dozers, or even chainsaws, to say nothing of the reduction of grazing, and you are off to the races.

Fires in my area occurred in 1870; 1923; 1964, and 2017 (that we know of) following almost the exact same footprint. All the previous fires took weeks to cover that pattern the last took hours because of the fuel load.

Fire burns where fire burns. In other words, if it has burned there before, it will burn there again. They are more topographically driven than anything else. Look at the fire history maps. If it hasn’t burned there again in the last 20-50 years it is highly likely it will again soon.

Read in Matthew where Jesus tells of the signs of the End, and compare it to what we are witnessing now. And also in the Days of Noah in Genesis, and why God destroyed the Earth with The Flood.

Search the Scriptures in the Bible, every place where Jesus teaches of the Time of the End and what happens afterward, and also Revelation.

God Bless you in your efforts to help you understand what is happening, will herald in a nefarious, horrific 7 years of abject destruction and death upon the Earth. And then a thousand years of peace as Jesus reigns!

In 1918 there was The Great Hinkley Fire in Minnesota. Mainly due to poor forestry practices iirc. Cut down the timber but leave all of the slash laying around.

The SE USA has TONS of forests. They used to burn a lot back in the day before they started using proper forest management techniques. They now have some of the lowest numbers of forest fires.

The key though is that they are private forests (for timber and pulp) and therefore are MANAGED.

Western states most of the land is Federal - and UNMANAGED. Or perhaps better stated - poorly managed.

Yes we are seeing how beneficial fire is, and have seen how beneficial it has been in the past fires.

Go spew your fire bug crap someplace else.
