How does the USA fix this??

We are under judgment because of the lives our nation has squandered in abortion. It's compounded these days with fetal parts harvesting. These practices must stop, or our nation will never recover. A nation without a fundamental morality honoring life is going to die by the scalpel and the shot (vaccine), if not by the sword.

Eisenhower spent his entire career as a staff officer or an aid to a high ranking officer.

Thanks for sharing that background on Eisenhower. Very informative!

"And as a side point, neither Ike nor Truman could have stopped the USSR from taking Eastern Europe"

At some point in the war, that became painfully apparent. As Stalin moved west, instead of concentrating all his strength to take Berlin, he took side trips to grab other nations along the way. There was nothing the Allies could do about it. When the war ended, Stalin had achieved his goals and he didn't give a hoot what the Allies thought.

Scary isn't it? There had to be billions of graft and corruption available in arms deals, political payoffs and the heroin trade. Lots of money for all.

But the officer corps is in trouble and this is because it was targeted during the Obama years and President Trump was not able to fix it.
......................................
Yes, and I should have been more precise. I was referring primarily to the officer corps, but the average recruit pretty much reflects the morays of the general recruit-age population, which is certainly a cause for concern. By the way, have you seen the photograph of the West Point cadet females of color hamming it up on the steps of the Davis Barracks? It doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence!

I understand what you are saying. We were at a military funeral yesterday and the same and related subjects were one of the topics of discussion.

Currently of the 33 million people in the country that are within the specified age group less than 10 million are actually eligible to join. The rest are ineligible because of fitness and weight standards, medical issues, misconduct, substance use and mental health. And these standards have already been greatly reduced. But because branches of the military are not actually looking for the bottom of the barrel less than 2 million young people are actually up to the quality standards they want. And out of this desirable pool of people less than 10% actually have any serious interest in joining our military.

The vast majority of people who actually join the military these days do so because they have a close family member who served or is still serving. And the absolute crap ball that the officer corps is devolving into because of the leftist take over is now discouraging people who have family members who know the score from joining.

The most recent recruits in our family were a niece and a nephew. In those cases both their parents had served. I can't say that it did not work out well for them any way. The youngest, our niece was able to purchase a house using the money she saved as a down payment on a house while stationed in the Middle East for a year. She also took advantage of educational benefits, got married and had a son when she got back.

One of my grandson was planning on joining an airborne unit to follow in his other grandfather's footsteps, but he is currently fighting wildfires and now is engaged and decided that he wants to become a smoke jumper instead. That is such a demanding job that it tends to filter out the unqualified despite leadership hoping to change the demographics of their underlings.

I have to say though that my wife and I still spend a lot of time at military bases near us. I am typically more impressed with the people we meet than discouraged. A few years ago my wife was honored by the Army Nurse Corps. We got to meet the Western Regional Command Team and they all seemed very professional and competent. Of course our completely woke soon to be General... brother-in-law would seem competent and professional in casual conversation as well.

We were close friends with oldest Army Nurse in attendance. She served from the end of WWII through the Vietnam era. When we sang the Army song before the cutting of the cake, all the words had been changed and our friend wanted to know what the hell was going on. My wife told her to just sing the words she knew.

I share your concerns both about the current leadership in our military and the small minority of young people who are now eligible to be recruits. And as I said at the military funeral we were at yesterday this was a hot topic of discussion.

Today's Colonels and Generals are not nearly the officers that I served with back in the 70s and 80s. Instead of promoting the message in Once an Eagle (part of the curriculum at the Army War College), they're now following the plot of the movie Idiocracy.

I doubt I'd make Captain in today's Army: I'm white, hetero, and I believe in the Platoon Leaders Handbook.

I agree, and unfortunately President Trump was not able to change this trajectory. Tradition holds our military together and tradition is currently being vilified.

and in many ways, the media wants us to look at the wokeness in the military and be discouraged from sending our best.

Would not a better message be to encourage them to join and make a difference?

Maybe a message for all of us. Do something rather than sit and complain.

the media wants us to look at the wokeness in the military and be discouraged from sending our best.

My wife and I have not been discouraging our young family members or other's from joining the military. My wife is directly responsible for a large number of people joining the military. She sets up inspirational displays honoring veterans. A typical example: We visited a local high school and in the morning we caught a lot of flack from a group of malcontents... “You brought war stuff to our school” And they vandalized some of what we brought along. But by the afternoon my wife had an entourage following her around who were interested in joining the military after her inspirational message.

Joining the military is a good choice for many young people. But there is no denying that there is a crisis in the officer corps caused by political correctness and “wokeness” that came to fruition during the Obama years and continued through the Trump administration. Conservatives are being denied promotions and being run out of the military. The officer corps is even working on rooting out conservatives among the enlisted and running them off.

Here is an example of false statistics, false reporting and out and out lying originating from leadership:

Noble sentiment, but privates and lieutenants are pawns and cannon fodder, with no influence,

We have been so conditioned that the power is in centralized government and they want us to think that.

They only have the power we give them. because we gave it up. The real power IS in those lieutenants and privates. That is where we want to be.

Yes it has become very bad in some places. Honor and tradition are being replaced by wokeness and suspicion. If you joined the military because you love the United States of America and all it stands for and you are a white male... depending on where you are stationed those in charge may view you with suspicion, deny you promotions and eventually drive you out. Talk to someone who is currently serving and get their impression. Some places are still fine, but others not so much.
