A couple of days ago it was turning further east of Bermuda so the track has moved a little west since then. But still should not be an issue for the East Coast

Actually more rain fell in NY/NJ than in La. The conjunction of the tropical depression getting caught in the 140 mph jetstream while drawing Atlantic moisture generated massive rainfalls in a short period. 3.4 inches in Central Pk in one hour. While hurricane winds were not present the jetstream caused localized wind bursts as well as a few tornadoes. And while the area does not have lowlying lands like the Delta and the area around Pnchatrain, NJ, Westchester, Conn are crisscrossed by many rivers and creeks and are now cresting at rarely seen levels. So while it was an unusual confluence of meteorological events, it was not merely a rainstorm.
