Beyond Meat? No thanks. I’ll stick to meat.
They were sampling this stuff recently, I think it was Costco. The smell literally made me gag.
People tried it and it sucks. That is the main reason a product goes down the tubes.
You know, “can’t make a steak out of a sows ear”.
We’ve always been told not to eat highly processed foods. What is higher processed than veggies made to taste a d look like meat!
You ever hear of anyone processing meat into something that tastes like beans or broccoli?
If I want meat I will eat MEAT!
Soon they’ll just substitute it for meat without telling people.
That’s what always gets me when I look at the ingredients in this crap. People think this is HEALTHIER than just a good ol’ ribeye? Seriously? And they try to make it LOOK like meat. Just get a steak.
Right on! I have 13 acres. I’ll just put an angus on it, if need be!
Try fiddling with some meatloaf recipes by adding varying amounts of hemp protein powder and crushed pork rind (Chicharrón). The Walmart pork rind crushed retains moisture in the meat. Hey, it’s keto!
I have a reasonable gyro meatloaf on my second try and only used ground beef because ground lamb was not available at my local grocery.
See post #89
No rational human being should every put this garbage into their mouth!!!
I am not surprised they aren’t selling a much as their poison as they had hoped.
Main difference is actual meat is healthy for human beings to eat.
Beyond meat is garbage. Pure & simple!
This crap wasn’t designed for vegans. It was designed to be all you are going to get after the Great Reset. I believe I heard Gates is behind this too.
It is going to be a “soylent green” type of thing.
I was never able to eat packaged pork rinds, because every one I tried seemed rancid.
Then, my husband found some called ‘4505 Chicharrones’ at the grocery. They’re big and puffy, and NOT rancid. I”m still not a fan of pork rinds as a snack; but these come in various flavors, and would probably make a good keto-filler for something like meatloaf, or in place of breadcrumbs on top of a casserole.
Walmart has good plain pork rinds which I crush and mix into meatloaf.
Also, using as a dip carrier rather than chips.
Here is my twist on the Hemp Protein Bar for the diet conscious:
No bake - press into log - plastic wrap. chill in fridge
Craisin 75g -35 cal.
Pumpkin 30g - 38 cal.
Cacao powder [3 tsp] -10 g - 23 cal.
Hemp powder 1 tsp - 14 cal
Hemp hearts 2 tsp - 39 cal
Used a small cheapie blender > first blend pumpkin seeds, then craisins, & finally add spices. Add evap. milk for texture.(Probably could have used water.) Use plastic wrap and press into log and chill in fridge before making cuts into bars.
Chow.
