--- "...finished in September, but has stood idle pending certification by Germany and the European Union."

This is just the European version of Kerry's "voting for before voting against" nuance.... The song and dance is for appearance. One shouldn't forget that TWO ex-chancellors promoted Nord Stream, and one now works for the Russians, and has for decades.

"Mehr Schein als Sein." More appearance than reality

Why don’t you ask that prick Putin to think about the people of Ukraine instead of stealing their land and now killing them?

US’ second largest imports of oil are from Russia. Canada is number one, and Mexico is #3.

The US cannot supply the European needs for LNG unless something like 700 tankers a day were off loading.

Reminds me of Australia, at the US request stopped selling wine to China. The US still sold wine to China.

The purpose must not be to punish Russia or China, so, it must be to ruin producers like Australian growers, and freeze the little people until they are so desperate they cede everything to their Governments.

Wouldn’t it be great if the US increased domestic oil and gas production and we offered Europe cheaper energy than they would get from Russia? Americans benefit from cheaper energy, food and logistics as a byproduct.

Gee, wouldn’t that drive down inflation, put more people back to work and send a message? This is a time when our ice cream consumer in chief should be for the country and not the left. It will also help moderate Dems in the midterms, while telling the far left to piss off.

It’s a civil war....Those “Ukrainians” in these two areas are Russian...NOT Ukrainian.

Then Russia is guilty of ethnically cleansing Ukrainians from the illegally occupied parts of Ukraine. Putin needs to die. Filthy evil war criminal.

governments that have already forked out billions to try to cushion the impact on consumers

***************

No problemo.

Those governments can print as much money as they want. Billions and trillions more. No limits on their power now.

Kabuki Theater. Certification is a formality. It most likely already is delivering gas.

“This is what happens when leaders are not subject to term limits and become de facto presidents-for-life. ....

We’ve seen with Saddam, Qaddafi, the leaders of North Korea, a lot of these presidents-for-life.”

Let’s see:

Putin — reshaped the Russian military and economy after a collapse of major proportions to be in the top 10 worldwide. Yes, I think the Russians people are happy with their leader.

Xi Jinping — he has grown China to the #2 economic spot in the world and is likely to be #1 at the rate things are going.

Nguyễn Phú Trọng (Vietnam) — After being hammered by two of the most powerful countries on the planet (and winning) this country is ranked 37 in the world for nominal GDP.

Now look at term-limited leaders.

Jimmy Carter
Barak Obama
Joe Xiden

Justin Trudeau — while he does not have direct term limits he must win the support of the House of Commons and they do have 4-year term limits.

My point is, that I’m not so sure term limits are the problem. There are perfect examples of each type who serves their countries well and those who serve their country poorly.

Forbidding the common language there in the east is literally ethnic cleansing. The nazi elements of the Kiev coup demanded it. Filthy evil war criminals.

The Germans are not as stupid and myopic as most Americans are. Lots of them are old enough to remember having Russians literally on the other side of the wall from them and they don’t want that crap coming back.

They’ll go back to burning wood or coal if that means not needing to bow down before the Putinista whores in Moscow.

They have no choice but to approve and use, this is Public BS, while behind the scenes the pressure is mounting.

Yet Russia passed their 2018 Language Law that all but openly forbids the use of any language in Russia aside from Russian.

And given that the scumbag Russians use the pretext of Russian speaking populations as a justification to invade then either getting people to speak the local language or deporting them is then an act of national self-preservation.

Every nation in Europe with a significant Russian speaking population should kick them the hell out and send them to Russia right away. If Putin loves these people so much then give them to him.

Exactly so shut down the other pipelines and really show solidarity.

Russia has pipelines to Europe through Poland, Ukraine, the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea. With Germany’s cooperation, and assuming Poland and Ukraine are on board, three of these can be shut down. Pipelines from Russia go to Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania. A bit more complicated, but it would appear possible to shut them down.

Big question is: could Azerbaijan, Norway, U.S. and Canada rev up production and distribution?

They’ll go back to burning wood or coal

***********

I get your point but modern day Germany is the largest energy consumer in Europe.

Wood and coal aren’t going to cut it.
