How many armored brigades could Castro deploy from Cuba. Castro could pose a real threat with only one weapon, the missiles the Soviets tried to bring in. We would have fought WWIII over those destabilizing weapons. NATO’s armored brigades sitting on the rolling plains leading into the Russian heartland is every bit as destabilizing. Remember Vietnam, Korea? Why did we fight? We fought because we saw a “domino effect” might happen if first Korea or Vietnam fell. Latvia, Poland, Estonia, Rumania, Hungary and now the most dangerous domino of all is about to fall to NATO. There will be a negotiated peace. Regardless of his blatant lies, Zelenskyy knows the dire situation he is in. NATO will not fight WWIII over Ukraine but Russia will. Zelenskyy will be responsible for the slaughter if he doesn’t accept reality and believes the lying dipshits running the West will come to his rescue when the real Russian crap hits the fan.

I tried to watch that eight minute clip again. I can’t. I have the same reaction you did. Let me ask you about the capabilities of the Russian Army. Do you really believe the Ukrainians have stopped those Russian armored divisions you were preparing for dead in their tracts? If so, is it possible to do so with with the very, very, very limited amount of damage we have actually seen. I see reports of Ukrainian turkey shoots destroying a 56 tank convoy with ease. Now I’m reading Putin/Russia exposed as paper tigers because of the butt whipping the Ukrainians are applying to them. All crazy talk to me. Crazy and dangerous as hell.

It sure is easy to spot you Putinistas. What a ridiculous argument.

This all started with Ukrainians recognizing what a dead end it was to be a Russian vassal state, and how EU Eastern European countries (former Soviet Bloc states) were progressing. The Ukrainians wanted to join the EU, but not NATO, as they knew Russia would have a big problem with NATO membership. Problem is, joining the EU with the corresponding reduction in corruption and oligarchy by a country so closely tied to Russia was a cancer the Russian power structure could not (and cannot) countenance. Stir in Putin's desire to, essentially, resurrect the USSR, which cannot succeed without Ukraine as a vassal state.

Once Yanukovitch was installed in an election more widely believed in Ukraine to be fixed than Biden's is here, and then he veto'd the vote to join the EU, the initial die was cast. Maidan blew up, admittedly with globalists flitting around the edges trying to take advantage, but the notion they drove the event is more nonsense: What drove it was ordinary Ukrainians like those I happened to be listening to (originally about the Chernobyl disaster!) at the time. They just wanted a better life and chance for themselves and their kids, and saw a path to it. Now they were hacked, and rightly so, and when Yanukovitch tried to crack down, he got tossed out instead. Even the pro-Russian parties said he had to go: A point Putinistas carefully avoid. This insolence was something Putin could not countenance, the land grabs by Russia began, and Ukraine realized that a further move to the West was it's only chance. "Globalists" didn't really push for NATO and Ukrainians were ambivalent at best (as above stated), but Russia pushed Ukraine there.

Most Ukrainians would have been delighted to mirror, essentially, neutral Finland. That's about like Mexico joining a Central and South American trade group, except that the US is not ruled by an ex-KGB who wants to be the Tsar who restores Holy Russia to its greatness. With almost no military implications involved, the US would probably SUPPORT such a move in the hope Mexico would prosper and become an ever more advantageous economic partner. To Putin, this is alien thinking. He wants an empire and has said so.

All that typing to parade your utter cluelessness regarding power politics. The first two lines were plenty to show you have no idea. Next time keep it short. Long winded or short, clueless. Oh yeah, I’m a putinista? Since you support the corrupt oligarchs who’ve been running the country, oligarchs propped up by you Bidenistas. Or are you a Vindmanista? Sure, let’s risk WWIII to keep your Bidenista cash machine ringing.

RE: “Imagine Mexico in talks with Moscow about joining the Warsaw Pact?”

Correct. It is called Know & Understand your enemy.
It does not mean you support him, It simply means you understand why he does things.

We got into WWI because of The Zimmerman Note, and there’s no proof that the Germans were even going to do it, but that was enough to get us into the War.

I knew *The Day After* was hokey when they had a Reagan sound-alike broadcasting “God Bless America” to the survivors after the nukes hit: and then ABC had a panel discussion afterwards for those traumatized by the realism of the show.

I wanted to go let off flashbulbs outside the neighbor’s windows while the show was on ...

I’d like to believe the Ukrainians actually DID all that. But, giving the amount of propaganda from BOTH sides, I just don’t know.

All I DO know is this renewed talk of even the THOUGHT of
launching nukes is re-generating a fear I haven’t felt in 30 years.

So, what was hokey about it? Do you think it would’ve been not as bad as they portrayed it?

The reason for the movie was total BS. That first eight minutes though are a very real portrayal of what the last few minutes of life would be like for tens of millions of Americans. All dying over some Central European conflict between Russia and NATO.

False pretenses.

Maybe you forgot the cry if the 80s liberals “Unilateral disarmament”.
Neither Reagan, nor Trump, got us into a nuclear war.
But Pedo Joe looks like he’s trying to.

Nope, they didn’t get us into a nuke war. All the libs were scared to death they would...but they were too smart for that.

I do think that ‘The Day After’ was necessary to show people who thought that nuclear war was survivable that...it isn’t.
BTW...they changed the voice actor for the President’s speech after the war to someone that didn’t sound like Reagan.

Yeah well, I only saw the movie one, 39 years ago. I was doing pretty good to remember the Reagan sound-alike at all .

"We got into WWI because of The Zimmerman Note, and there’s no proof that the Germans were even going to do it, but that was enough to get us into the War. "

How do you or anyone know if the Zimmerman Note telegram, was a planted fake (by....oh, I don't know.....the British M5!). Who would have a better motive. The Brits knew it was just a matter of time before Germany would win.....New York bankers were scared out of their bung hole that if England/France lost, what with all the money/war materials loaned by the US to the allies. With Germany dictating the peace terms, the New York banks would have gone belly up!

With all of the corruption we've seen coming out of Washington and I'm sure London as well. England risking loosing on the battlefields was not an option. The British have always believed they have been given the heavenly mandate to rule the world and manufacturing a fake telegram.....well, the Empire must be save!

A lot of people were saying what you said at the time, which is why Wilson decided to ban Freedom of Speech with his Sedition Act of 1918. And I know that the Rats and their Repuke lackeys would just love to do the very same thing now.
