The fact that one Irish politician is an anti-Semite means very little if there are not any others. This sounds more anti-Israel than anti-semitism per se, although the effect might be the same over time.

So I went over to boards.ie which is rather like Free Republic with a broader political base and discussions about all topics, and searched for discussions of what this Senator is proposing. There were no dedicated threads but one or two posts in a more general discussion touched on her remarks. There seemed to be little enthusiasm for them.

Bottom line then is that this is a rather isolated far-left perspective that is driven more by anti-Israel than anti-semitic sentiments, and something you can find in every western country among their furthest left politicians.

And many ‘Russian’ Israelis in Israel have greater affinity for Ukraine than Russia. Not sure I understand it, given Ukrainian history, but such is the case.

I’m not going to read all of James Joyce’s anything. Finnegan’s Wake, Ulysses, are pure egotistical obscurantism. So whatever I run across in an anthology, that’s it.
