Sadly, I fear we may never get rid of our deep state in Britain. The FPTP parliamentary political system makes it impossible for an anti-establishment maverick like Trump or Nigel Farage to get through to become leader so we get faux ones like Boris Johnson. If Boris went as far as Trump did in trying to drain the swamp the Tory establishment would get rid of him and put a more compliant puppet in charge because the PM is only PM because he leads the largest party, not as a leader elected in his own right by the public.

Hard for the Republican Party to do this with Trump because he is elected president in his own right and can’t simply be removed by RINOs because he threatens their interests.
