We believe what we want to believe, especially without information. I haven’t researched Zelensky, so I’ll assume he’s in the right, or at least believes himself to be. Otherwise, why risk your life?

I also think Putin could give chapter and verse reasons as to why he feels Russia has been pushed into a corner and he has no choice but to act, using violence if necessary.

I’ll use my own example - Having watched “Ukraine on Fire” recently. Oliver Stone and Sean Penn are certified left wing wackos, but when they point out the nefarious actions of Bush/Obama/Biden/ etc, all the way to Victoria Nuland, I want to believe. All those “color revolutions” looked suspect to begin with and I never doubted our involvement - but to the degree we did, is shocking. Or, was I just naïve?

Point is they are left wingers saying that the negative things I already thought about folks like Obama and Biden. Why? Did they suddenly see how stupid “Democrat Good - Republican Bad” really is? I don’t buy it.

The problem is, as is always the case, the documentary completely ignored Russia’s own missteps and Putin’s own lies. Putin is a guy who can get media coverage anytime he wants, even here in the US. He could have been much more vocal about the 13 countries who joined NATO and immediately became military staging grounds, of sorts. The encroachment on Russia’s borders, and the historical indigenous ties to folks in former block countries have left him to either be humiliatingly weak on the world stage, or a monster. He chose monster.

It’s a little too simple to call folks “Putin puffers” for seeing only one side of the argument. We all do it to some extent. It’s also ridiculous to keep posting the antics of Zelensky’s former career. The man is President of a country now. Have we learned nothing about this from Reagan and Trump? He “could” be the real deal. I’m off to find out before I make a judgement.

There is zero doubt the Media Lie Campaign is 100% America Last.

We can’t pay to protect our borders?

Our kids and Grandkids being left with low paying Service Jobs and debt that will crush their families forever?

How about a basic Economics course.

I'm in America.

You should lay off the booze until quitting time.

I think everyone here should acknowledge that they prefer to Govern (and Spend) by Crisis.

Can we get that far? Accept a basic truth.

It was winston churchill that first said.

Never waste the opportunity offered by a good crisis a crisis energizes the electorate trying out many new ideas in a frantic effort to find something that works.

Yes, of course 50 % of Ukrainians are welcoming the Russians like the French did when we liberated Paris. The Russians are showing clips on their news of the streets lined with waving, cheering Ukrainians. 1/2 of Ukrainian men are joining the Russian army.

NO, WE ARE SEEING NONE OF THAT. IT IS AN IDIOTIC LIE TO CLAIM HALF OF UKRAINE WANTS PUTIN TO INVADE AND LIBERATE THEM.

“It’s always been binary choices: good vs evil.”

I see that as an evil thought, but:

“The trick is telling the difference” is true.

Poor thing gets arounds, it appears.....

Are you suggesting one woman was photographed, then painted her fingernails brown to be portrayed as a second woman?

“Once an actor always an actor, and an actor is a professional liar by trade.”

Tell us how you really feel about Ronald Reagan.

Can’t believe that I waited until I was 68 years old to read about the Alger Hiss case in “Witness” by Whittaker Chambers. In it, speaking as himself a devoted Communist, he declares that basically, once a commie, always a commie.

Sure, Russia “banned” the Communist Party after the breakup of the USSR, but the true believers are still burrowed in.

Reagan was right...and he was an actor. So you just have to hope the actor in question has some principles, which Reagan did (although he had started out as a Dem).

Zelensky is an opportunist who was probably elected because people hoped he was a normal human being and was going to stop the fighting over some of these areas (which actually should be Russian) because it wouldn’t matter to him.

But once he got the support of the US, it went to his head. Suddenly he was somebody.

Well, there were always “kooks” around, and often their theories were quite popular. Remember the “black helicopters” and “FEMA camps”?

The real difference is, in the past you could believe your theories, and I could disagree with you about those, but we could still agree on matters of basic principle and work together. Not so much anymore, since certain people seem to have disavowed the idea that principles matter more than allegiance to some faddish theory of the week.

It was not a comparison. It was an example demonstrating that the statement was invalid.

“Asking questions about this situation is not the same as supporting Putin’s invasion.”

So you don’t support Putin’s invasion? Or do you have more questions to ask before you can figure out whether you do or not?

I don’t think they banned it. Its represented in the Duma.
Once it wasn’t compulsary it just became another Russian political party. See below Russian Commuist party 160,000 members.
