No reason listed for the exercise of the force majeure clause.

They only apply in limited unforeseen or non-preventable circumstances.

Why would someone write an article about contract cancellations and omit the reason for the contract cancellations? Why would someone then share that article here?

Dagny receives a phone call from Minnesota. The rail cars set to haul that state's wheat crop have not shown up, and the massive harvest will rot in its silos ... Dagny's investigation within the railroad shows that every necessary form has been filled out, but the grain cars are not going to Minnesota. She finds that the paperwork has been falsified, and Cuffy Meigs has been sending the cars to Louisiana to carry Emma Chalmers' soybeans, now deemed more important by the government bureaucracy than wheat.

If there is no visible crisis...one must be created.

And this tale is a whopper!

OK, they needed rail crews. Did they fire crew for not being vaxxinated.

All part of the plan.

Yes. Why would the rail carriers cancel contracts? Do they not have the grain to deliver? I hate poor reporting.

Corn Is Out, Soy Is In on U.S. Farms Rocked by Soaring Costs

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-03-30/corn-is-out-soy-is-in-on-u-s-farms-rocked-by-soaring-costs

Two crops dominate U.S. farming: corn and soybeans. The former requires massive amounts of fertilizer. The latter requires very little.

Which is why the astronomical surge in fertilizer prices — they’re up some 27% this year and 130% over the past year — is causing farmers to quickly re-calibrate the amount of each crop they put in the ground this spring. They’ll dedicate about 2 million more acres this year to soy, a Bloomberg survey finds, and about 2 million fewer to corn.

Stephen Miller said on Fox tonight that all the Democrats have to sell is FEAR.

and life get back to some form of normalcy as we in the past had? 5, 10

Better yet, ignore it entirely.

Force majeure?

It's a European legal concept, not an American one. It must be specifically in a contract to be of force in US law.
