The author is making a good point. An earlier post on this board from Lifenews, showing statistics on abortion - some of this stuff I already knew - showed that a great majority of the women who seek abortion have already had one live birth.
This made me think of the story of a woman I was friends with some years ago. She had several kids by the same guy. With her last pregnancy she had had extreme complications and almost died, and her child - who lived - had a birth defect.
She became pregnant almost immediately again. I doubt if it was her will for this to happen; she was just submitting to her husband because she didn’t want for him to, you know, get tired of her. After the ordeal she had been through only a couple of months before, she decided to have an abortion. (This was before the days where they started offering the mom a prostaglandin shot after delivering a kid - to prevent pregnancy for several months until she can start using oral contraceptives again.)
I’m not condemning her for it, even though if I would have been there at the time, I would have tried to talk her out of it.
This is just one of many stories I have that are like this. I also knew one gal, a coworker, who had had several miscarriages and one live birth. She was pregnant again. She started to show signs that she would miscarry, and therefore quit her job (her man was kinda worthless as far as support but he was a good, conscientious dad), she had her bf moved in with her mom, and she went through like six months of being bedridden with nurse visits so that she could deliver her child safely.
At the time I thought she was crazy.
I’m not saying these things in favor of abortion, I’m saying that it’s easy for men to stand back and condemn someone for having to make a decision that they’ll never be faced with. Lots of men run away when gf tells them she is pregnant. It happens all the time. And then we have the welfare culture where young women get pregnant intentionally but some loser they have no intention of marrying or having a family with so they can get welfare benefits.
And, while it’s easy to see from reading the news that young black females commit hella crimes, it’s not as apparent that they have the most abortions. And they also have kids, which likely frustrates Margaret Sanger in hell to no end. When you see them, you see them with kids. You are often surprised to find out how many abortions they have had. If you’ve worked in public health like I have, you get used to this type of person having a very casual attitude about abortion, but they also will act virtuous about having kids. Like having kids cancels out having abortions. And the fathers are nowhere. All they had to do is use a rubber or some nonoxynol 9, or make sure gf is on the pill before going for it, but no.
One thing that surprised me a bit was how many of the women (still talking about the lifenews article) who had abortions and reported a religious affiliation were Roman Catholic. That might be bogus and it might not, but if true I’m not surprised at all.
A guy I used to know, when his son started going out with girls, gave his son a box of condoms and told him that if he ever needed a condom and all the grocery stores were closed, that he should call him (his dad) and, even it was the middle of the night, he would bring him some condoms. “Never have sex without this,” my friend said to his boy, “unless you’re absolutely certain you want to have kids. And if think you are absolutely certain, think again.”
A lot of men who get really angry/militant/stabby/threatening about abortion are, a lot of the time, kinda bad at life. Their relationships aren’t good. The women and kids in their life are not happy a lot of the time.
As a man, I feel you should be against abortion but I’m not going to tell you how to think. That’s your struggle. Like the one person said: If you want to have sex with a lady, she should be your wife; also you should be considerate toward your wife and not threaten to abandon her if she’s unavailable for sexy time.
There’s no point in hating women, even if you are a totally butch f@g. You will waste a lot of energy hating half the human race and your hatred will stain everything you do and think. We have an opportunity to put an end to abortion and you have a role in this. Don’t eff it up by making it all about your hate.
How narrow minded and intolerant of they to not acknowledge that women can get men pregnant. Such old-fashioned 20th century thinking.
