The Greater Chicago Metro Area is crazed wrt peeps [not] following the posted speed limits on the free [and notso] ways.
Tractor beams...
I don’t go to the Chicago area very often, maybe a couple of times a year at most. That said, $5 gas didn’t slow many vehicles down when I was there earlier this year..
Don’t miss my point: it’s not IF the sticker is there; it’s WHY.
If you’ve got one because that’s really how you feel and you wanna show it — bully.
If you’re just slapping it on there hoping it’ll save yer bacon now and again — wrong reason.
That’s my central point.
Seen WAY too many “ghetto sleds” with that and other cop-friendly stickers on them to believe they all mean what they appear to. Look, you’ve got an old Chevy Caprice, jacked up on ridiculous 22” rims with 30 series rubber on ‘em, and massive bass “kickers” in the trunk, that little “Back The Blue” sticker doesn’t change the powerful perception that you’re a run-of-the-mill ‘hood rat looking to slide outta trouble.
That’s not backing the Blue’ that’s ingratiating to the point of being insulting, hoping to score a free pass out of a traffic violation.
Heh. I have yet to need a new clutch in my 2006 Scion xB, with 226k miles on it.
You have a well-modulated leg, my man....
I back the Blue and pray for them.
I’ve driven clutch cars most of my life. I’ve never had a problem with breakdowns. I have had a couple of warranty recalls, but wasn’t experiencing any problems at the time..
I had to replace the clutch on my FR-S at 135k because the throw out bearing went out. It turns out it’s a known issue and, though I was complaining online on an FR-S site, I was getting a lot of grief - because they were supposed to fail at 30k. 🤣
My auto dealer was sold some years ago. The service department is suggesting unnecessary repairs. It is my understanding the techs get a piece of the action on part sales. The last time I took it in, they said I needed new brakes. I had the brakes replaced ~10K miles before. I took the car to a dealer in another city for service and the brakes checked out fine 6 months later.
Ok so its not really a driving test but about 25 years ago I was coming off a 2 month project that was taking most of my time so I didn’t have an opportunity to go to the registry to renew my plates. They expired on Saturday and I lived about a quarter mile from the branch office so I figured I’d just take care of it first thing Monday. I had to get provisions on Sunday though as I was down to Cheerios and celery. On the way back from the store Barney Fife shot out of the local donut shop and pulled me over within sight of my house. He took my plates and had the car towed. When the tow truck showed up he cited the driver for having his back window tint too dark.
Who are you to tell me what the Constitution is in my sovereignty?
