As I gather it, targeting them is a command decision. Not a glamorous hit, no PR, no media interest. Inept High Command goes for the Press, the PR, winning the war is not high on their priorities.

My 2 cents on this conflict, I have no inside information just observations. First I believe that Putin expected and easy victory which is why he abandoned the kind of traditional scorched earth atry intense warfare we now see. His loss of equipment esp tanks in the first few months I think show that they did not see the Ukrainians as having the capability to inflict such loses. Once it became obvious that this was not going to be a walk in the park and the low damage hearts and minds strategy failed the Russians resorted to time test methods. Intense indiscriminate arty barrages laying waste to cities, villages, farmland alike and without concern for civilian losses or intact territory to occupy. Their strategy now is to destroy and wear down the Ukrainians regardless of any other consideration. This will probably give them a “victory” that they can declare but it is pretty obvious that it is not the one they envisioned when this operation was started.
So to the present. They have air superiority but they don’t fly like it they fly more like the Luftwaffe of 1945, low and fast. Additionally it appears the helicopters are being held back and most air launched weapons are done from a stand off position. Not saying that is a bad idea but shows that the Russians don’t fear the Ukrainian AF but do the AA. Their advances are slow and plodding designed to reduce their loses and inflict as much damage. Ultimately a winning strategy if ground gained is all you care about but hearts and minds not so much. The Germans were greeted as liberators in Ukraine that quickly changed to partisan resistance. The fact that tank losses are down indicates that have abandoned any kind of blitzkrieg breakthrough tactics for now and understand how vulnerable they are. As a side observation I am amazed that by now the Russians have not learned to keep their hatches closed. Most of the drone munitions are not capable of piercing even top armor also a simple log top cover would defeat these munitions, not arty but the drone grenades and mortars
How this ends is anybodies guess but the constant harassing of Russian soldiers and positions by drone and precision munitions can not be a moral boost. The fact that Putin is trying to enlarge the military is also interesting imagine getting recruits to volunteer for tank and bmp….crews will be a hard sell
Loss of the amount of equipment so far even with the large amounts they had is not good and not easily replaced. Their storage yards are more junk yards than operational weapons ready for call up
Lastly the reputation the Russian military had before this has been severely damaged yes they still have nukes but as a feared ground and Air Force not so much. Not sure how much is the equipment or the leadership is the reason but I lean a little on equipment and much more on leadership

I’m more optimistic on this. RuZZia decided when the invasion started but Ukraine gets to decide when it ends. RuZZia will likely continue the war until they can capture the Donbass in its entirety. Then attempt to declare a ceasefire. Try to get European weak links to jump on the bandwagon. However, Ukraine is unlikely to agree to this. As long as Ukraine is willing/able to fight, there will be no ceasefire. RuZZia will continue to bleed troops and equipment. Hopefully until they reach some threshold and withdraw. It might take a new RuZZia leader to succeed Little Pukin for this to happen.
USSR invaded Afghanistan under Brezhnev. Didn’t withdraw until a decade later under Gorbachev.

Actually somewhere in Europe that did build a co2 capture plant ostensibly to save the earthbut here is the funny part the co2 was pumped to nearby greenhouse(whod of thunk) and shipped to soft drink and perhaps beer manufacturers. So that’s right all the co2 “captured” is returned to the environment perfect liberal logic

Personally I think that our retreat from Afghanistan and Biden well just the tip comment emboldened Putin to go for the whole bag instead of the breakaway regions. One of his miscalculation was underestimating the Ukrainian military and its capabilities not the Ukraine of crimea annexation and also though late the assistance of higher tech weapons for Ukraine from US and others. Lastly no one including me thought the little drones that could would have as much of an effect. Both in actual damage and moral Warfare are has changed
