The monarchy represents the nation but is above politics. That’s it.

Hmmmmm..... So Charles will continue in this fashion?
I truly doubt it. He has an agenda.

—> True, but teams if PR people couldn’t help Harry, Andrew or Charles,

Their corruption was public.

Give it time to come out.

I don’t know, I think Charles might wind up being a pleasant surprise. Things change when suddenly you are the top dog.

Well I watched all of this event with the understanding of what a Monarchy is. So all the pomp and pageantry was no surprise - and nobody does it like Britain does.

The committal service captured my attention as they removed the crown etc. off the casket, one by one, and returned it to the Alter. The breaking of the Wand then placed on the casket signifying those who severed her as released from their duty.....followed with the lowering of the casket. The solo Bagpiper, who played every morning for her wherever she was in residence, began walking out of the entrance as his tune slowly faded away.

All in all I enjoyed observing this event - learning much along the way I didn’t know.

You began with an insult - therefore this ends now.

George Mason and Patrick Henry both spotted the threat of a too powerful executive and they opposed replacing the Articles with the Constitution.

Go read what the Anti-federalists said and you’ll see that they were prophets

“Just how do they generate revenue, other than taxes.”

Billions in tourist dollars/euros/pounds—whatever.

I have contributed twice with no regrets.

I don’t get the deranged hostility you see in so many Americans.

Yes sir and thanks! It’s been some years since I re-read them and overdue for a refresher course.

It’s a tourism industry. How much money do you think comes from people visiting London and buying stuff due to the backdrop of the Royal Family? People come to see the “changing of the guard”, etc. It’s part of British history...where the Magna Carta came from. If it weren’t for the British, good and bad, the USA wouldn’t have come to be. It’s all history and it’s all important.

I’m originally from the UK, I find it astonishing that many American-born folks understand little more than “we defeated the British”. With no idea about the Magna Carta and the influence it had on our history, founders, and Constitution.

Apparently at some dignitaries huge funeral decades ago ( queen Victorias?) the carriage broke while getting in motion —— all the Navy guys stepped up, (124) found a rope and pulled the carriage throughout the entire procession. That’s why the number pulling it today was 124 exactly.

You can probably find the story on line. I heard it as a journalist was reporting on this event.

I respect and admire how the Queen conducted herself in her entire life.
Every family, most anyway, are disfunctional to some degree. She showed dignity and restraint in the face of criticism and adversity, and did it for 70yrs, no less.
That in itself deserves respect.
RIP, Your Majesty.

And no, I’m not British.🙂
