was always just a matter of time.
If you can imagine any way that a robot could eventually take over your job... it will eventually

Doesn’t it mean replace farm workers? As in illegal aliens.

I don’t believe GPS tractors can pick apples.

This is going to happen eventually and corporate farms will be the beneficiary.
The US will be affected but nothing like overseas farms.
Now if they ever perfect an AI that plants, cultivates and harvests rice, then the world will change.

So much of our lives now is being reduced to parameters and terms of machines and their limitations. (Try using the ‘chat’ function on a business you’re dealing with, for instance.)
I can imagine that the quality of our diets will greatly diminish, too.

What’s the automated Apple picker?
I’d assume that’s in development.

Question: Do you have to buy a Robo-Deere if the government is paying you to keep your land fallow?

I have before. You are chatting largely with AI and the evidence is by the canned responses that reply almost instantanelously when you post any question.
Even calling to get a live person anymore is a massive time consuming boondogle of navigating beauracractic hurdles. I have to use headphones at work so I can keep working on otherstuff because each telephone call for otherwise minute things takes so freaking long.

I thought the big machines were programmed with “optimal” planting plans now and most was automated now. I also thought harvesters used the same planting plans to harvest. Farmer in the cab for safety and doing just the basics the automation couldn’t.
Please note that just because I live on land in Bama don’t make me know anything about farming.

yeah, and it’ll be so expensive to fix that it’ll be cheaper just to buy a new one ...

Tractors that drive themselves;
Reminds me of 3 horror/scifi movies:
KillDozer
Trucks
Maximum Overdrive

Doesn’t it mean replace farm workers? As in illegal aliens. Won't stop illegals coming in. So now you'll have illegals with idle hands.
