I think something else might be said about the Social Security program that I don’t believe was mentioned. S.S. recipients now are getting more than they used to because of inflation. Well, who caused that? If not for inflation, what would payments look like now? We would basically be just about as well off as we are now, but the government would be spending less, instead of essentially spending more than they take in.

I heard if they raise the cap to 250K, it can survive until 2060. That will see most boomers and Gen X generations gone. The ones after are so liberal that they will have Universal Basic Income which will be their problem.
Social Security, aka Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI), is insurance, was never supposed to be the main income source for people.
If they are going to bail out bankers and send billions to the Ukraine I don’t want to hear a peep about Social Security.
There is a reason that it is the third rail of politics.
Any politician pushing “reform” deserves to be voted out of office.
