Widget Jr. to PIF: "PIF, do you think the documents are legitimate?"

Of course they are legitimate.

Consider the alternative: do you really think Russia created them as disinformation and came up with the idea of putting them on a Minecraft Discord server for them to leak out and look real?

That's completely implausible, the Russians aren't that clever. And they don't care that much about what random Westerners think about their actions (obviously).

Elites, yes, sure. I'm sure they would like the sanctions lifted, and such.

Who is PIF? Other than the foil of SpeedyInTexas for his 20 self-posts a day? Does he have some special knowledge to authenticate these that the rest of us are unaware of?

The whole "Ukraine is winning" narrative is absurd, and it's laughed at by much of the world. People in the USA, even Freepers who should know better after watching how the US media played with Hunter's Laptop and the Trump Russia Collusion hoax continue to believe the BS written in the Washington Post, New York Times, USA Today and created by nasty NeoCon outfits like the Institute for the Study of War.

All that stuff is preposterous, but many here buy it. Crazy. (I had someone post a Newsweek article to "disprove" something I said).

As the saying goes: "You can't fix stupid".

Cheers!

do you think the documents are legitimate?

I have no idea - I’d have to see the original documents in the Pentagon or Joint Chiefs - which isn’t happening.

Most of it is covered in the War Zone article I linked - but they are unlike the classified documents of my day; these are printed in terrible colors and then photoed in a crumbled state with no attempt to smooth or straighten them.

That’s all I can say other than, if they are real, the printing standards are somewhere below amateur and into grade school levels. Not what one would expect from today’s services, unless they are hiring grade schoolers to do document formatting and printing.

Well we agree on that YOU-can’t fix stupid

I most certainly think they are capable of this and thinking it will effect something
They do that stuff all the time, the interference in us elections wasn’t about trying to help one over the other but to sew chaos which they did and on the cheap

The product looks like an amateur did it, been out for two years so maybe intel community has digressed that much, half expecting emojis

My 3 cents

Russians becoming more and more spooked about Ukrainian troop and equipment build-up in Kherson and Zaporizhia.

“do you think the (purportedly leaked Pentagon) documents are legitimate?”

I think it likely that they originated with the Government - either leaked, or as a misinformation operation.

In either event, they would have a lot of valid information (which would be required to make any misinformation credible).

My takeaways were that the Counteroffensive Operation is named “Phoenix Strike”, NATO accepted the task of equipping and training nine new Ukrainian Brigades, they should be nearly equipped now, but full training seemed behind schedule for an Operation this month (it might even take until June to rotate every Battalion through a month of unit training).

Maybe some Battalions will not have time for a full training rotation before the Operation launches, and will have to make due with a few embedded trainers, online training, and lower tier missions during the assault.

The ones the Gray Zone shows have obviously been altered. There are several areas photo-shopped. The worst one is the "ground vehicles" where it was changed from 6,004 to 6 00 and they left the space where the "," was. Ya ain't gotta be Buckhead to see that one. Also, ya gotta keep it reasonable to make it believable. The "7 fighter/bomber ; 8 rotary wing" claim went a bit too far, as there are 10X that many documented. Even the most loyal Russian troll wouldn't believe that one. It's not clear if any of the pics posted so far were un-manipulated, including the earliest versions posted a month ago, but the ones on Gray Zone certainly have been.

Bakhmut was the 56th largest city in the Ukraine, before Russia began attacking it almost a year ago.

ISW’s RUSSIAN OFFENSIVE CAMPAIGN ASSESSMENT, APRIL 8, 2023

“Key Takeaways

Ukrainian and Russian sources discussed the decreased rate of Russian offensive operations along the entire frontline on April 8, supporting ISW’s assessment that the overall Russian offensive is approaching culmination.

The dynamics of battlefield artillery usage in Ukraine reflect the fact that Russian forces are using artillery to offset their degraded offensive capabilities.

Former Russian officer and ardent nationalist Igor Girkin launched a new effort likely aimed at protecting the influence the Russian pro-war faction within the Kremlin.
The “Club of Angry Patriot’s” reveals several key implications about the Kremlin dynamics and the perceived danger to Putin’s regime.

Girkin may be advancing the political goals of unnamed figures within Russian power structures possibly within the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).

Russian nationalists seized on assassinated Russian milblogger Maxim Fomin’s funeral to promote pro-war narratives.

Russia’s missile campaign to degrade Ukraine’s unified energy infrastructure has failed definitively, and Russia appears to have abandoned the effort.

The Kremlin is likely intensifying legal punishments for terrorism-related crimes as part of a larger effort to promote self-censorship and establish legal conditions for intensified domestic repressions.

The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) may be setting conditions for a false flag attack in Sumy Oblast.
Russian forces conducted limited ground attacks along the Svatove-Kreminna line.

Russian forces have continued to make gains around Bakhmut, and tensions between the Wagner Group and conventional Russian forces over responsibility for tactical gains in Bakhmut appear to be intensifying.

Russian sources continued to speculate about the planned Ukrainian counteroffensive in southern Ukraine, including hypothesizing about the possibility of a Ukrainian amphibious landing across the Kakhovka Reservoir.

The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) on April 6 proposed a defense industrial base (DIB) deregulation reform that could expedite defense production but will more likely facilitate corruption and embezzlement.

Ukrainian officials reported that 31 children returned to Ukraine after having been deported to Russia as Russian officials continue to discuss the adoption of Ukrainian children into Russian families.”

Coincidence? Maybe June is the big show?

Malinda 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇵🇱🇨🇦🇮🇹🇦🇺🇬🇧🇬🇪🇩🇪🇸🇪 @TreasChest

“NATO is preparing the largest aviation exercises in its history

Air Defender 2023 will be held primarily in Germany, with forward operating locations in the Czech Republic, Estonia, and Latvia, June 12-23. The purpose of the exercises will be to test the ability to quickly deploy and use the aviation of NATO countries.

In addition to Germany and the USA, 22 allied countries will take part in the exercises. About 220 aircraft of 23 types are planned to be used. This makes Air Defender 2023 the largest air force deployment exercise since NATO was founded in 1949.“

🇺🇦 Jim Hacker DAA, @RayFlo_135 Replying to @TreasChest

“Not the biggest in NATO history, Reforger exercises had more aircraft involved. Many hundreds of fighters, tankers, bombers , transports as well as civilian airliners crossing the Atlantic to reinforce NATO for the practice mobilization war games during the Cold War.”

(But still, this seems potentially significant, for deterring or defeating potential Russian escalation over the Ukrainian counteroffensive)

The logistics for this exercise is amazing.

Flying the aircraft to the forward operating locations is the easy part.

Support crews & equipment, spares, etc. are the difficult part.

Operation Desert Shield would be the model.

"Air Defense" should also include Surface to Air systems such as Patriots.

The possibilities are endless.

It would be a shame if some of the Patriots were diverted to a higher priority mission.
