Thunderstorms scare pits and heelers. Catahoula bark at them and they are not scared of gunfire. Which some Freepers are.
Do I want another pit? No, they are just big babies.
Do I want another Heeler? He’ll no.
You don’t think O.J.loved Nicole?
Some dogs require that the owners have 24 hours “situational awareness”.
Same in my area. PetSmart was having an adoption event in the parking lot a couple of years ago. About 2 dozen dogs. All but one were pits.
No kidding. I had an almost identical experience as you. No “normal” dogs in the shelters. Just cages full of potential killers.
When I looked at shelter dogs available they are advertised as terriers and upon further scrutiny, they are pill bulls.
Your neighbors are irresponsible sh*its.
“Nobody knows what a pit or pit mix has been exposed to that make it a living time bomb.”
Bingo! They are sweet and lovable up to the moment they tear your face off with zero hint of warning.
I wouldn’t doubt they are difficult to adopt out. Would it make sense to take chances with these breeds and your younch children when the dogs background is mostly unknown?
American Black & Tan Coonhound Rescue has plenty of adoptable hounds. They are great with children and adults alike. We have three hounds (us no kids, neighbors kids love them).
Our mutt definitely has some hound in him.
Our biggest issue is that when he hears owls hooting he insists on joining them in a chorus—sometimes at 3 in the morning!
(He can hear them even when all windows are closed—and even when we cannot hear them.)
Child Protective Services got involved after that, WFAA reported. The state offered an option to place the 2-year-old girl, McKenna, in a relative’s home. Two weeks later, that family’s pit bull lunged at McKenna across a table and attacked her.
“It then got the taste of blood in her mouth and went crazy,” Dalena Martin told WFAA. “She (the dog) was already becoming reactive, but she was a family dog and she laid with McKenna the night before.”
The family that owned the pit was complicit. They KNEW the dog was *becoming reactive* and yet they let the girl sleep with the dog and didn't restrain it around her?????
And CPS put the poor darling little girl with that family with a killer dog. Sick sick sick.
Dumb asses.
The horror stories of children who have died from neglect while allegedly under the supervision of child protective services is appalling.
Don’t tell your insurance company.
And people need to stop treating dogs like “fur babies” or that they are some sort of sweet animal that would never hurt anyone. A dog is a hunter and a killer by DNA. and needs to be firmly controlled by the pack leader. Sure they can be nice but never trust them alone with babies or small children. I cringe when I see people pose their newborns with the family dogs. Even the most “harmless” lahsa apso comes from wolf DNA.
True, unless the pair of fruits decide they want to 'adopt.'
"Pyle, I'm going to rip off your balls so you can't pollute the world!"
Samoyeds are a great example.
They are great with little kids (above the age of 5 or so) but they have been known to attack babies who are crying.
Dogs are like anything else in life—homework is necessary.
