My PASTOR trained me in the proper use of firearms and I got my CCL in FL and always carried.
Even in church.
Especially in church, since it was outdoors.
All the deacons were armed. I was Minister of Music so that made me a “deacon” too.
I was actually an “elder” in the original sense of the word. And old biker woman.
Maybe the cows showed up after you left. :-)
As an adult, I lived in Miami from 1961 to 1999.
I viewed Broward County as poorly policed, poorly permitted, poorly administered, largely corrupted, and would never live there.
New Yorkers seem to have polluted still another nest.
I remember the bagel restaurant. I used to eat hot wings at Tarks, Bill and his son ran the business. I loved fishing C14 and riding our bikes out to the sawgrass.

Probably all gone now, replaced with condos.............
My wife and I lived right off corner of Sample and University when we were first married in the katr 90s. It was an awesome place for a young couple. Walk to lots of restaurants, shops etc. There was an amazing Greek diner just a few blocks away, and an Irish pub across from that.
We drove through the area a few years ago to check it out - yuck.

We neighbors tried to prevent its building, along with our beloved rep Joe Kaufman, and our congressman A.W. but they snuck it in. Grrrrr.

Not a single word from local Miami media about racism or hate crimes.
In 81, I worked (AT&T/BellSouth) job on a “ranch” in Parkland. The family (as I was told)owned a Section. It was about 3-4 miles west of 7/441. They had a airstrip(1 single engine, high wing) hundreds of Guineafowl & caged pheasants. Nice Family, never heard what happened to them.

It’s all built up now, really encroaching on the Everglades, and abutting up against Loxahatchie Road, which used to be all Everglades. Margory Douglas is spinning in her grave over Parkland. And then they had the nerve to name the High School after her.
