“The largest percentage choose to be homeless and mooch off of others.”

Those would be the lazy people.

“The non-mentally ill homeless need similar, work centers to help them get things in order, get training, get jobs, then move out on their own when ready.”

But they don’t WANT to work. They aren’t GONNA work. Period.

That’s been my solution for homeless, designated areas where they can do what they want and they won’t be prosecuted as long as they do their activities in these zones. Provide police for protection against assaults and social services for their nedds.

However, prosecute them if they do any of their activities outside the zone.

That spells “work” and discipline. Two words the homeless don’t understand or contemplate. They do understand “services” but only in the context of desperation. Once no longer desperate, it’s back to business as usual.

I don’t have an answer other than incarceration of some kind and that we can’t afford. If we make it extremely uncomfortable to be homeless, how many will fold and how many have what it takes to care for their own survival?

The problem with building shelters is that the homeless will just burn them down, because drugs is everything to them. We had a building in my city that allowed homeless people to live there and that’s what they did.

California has “Slab City”: Very little cost for those who enjoy homelessness.

Today, there seems to be rising support for a new “War on Drugs”.

It just had to be getting “bad enough”.

If Ron did his job as governor since heโ€™s been in that position for YEARS already, he would have secure FL borders, deported all illegals from his state to out of US entirely and he would have lots of established homes apts etc for any actual homeless FL Citizens.

Instead Ron continues to allow and enable illegal invasion with itโ€™s growing waste of resources and harm to FL Citizens and beyond as Ron has moved some to other states and allows illegals to move freely in and through FL. Ron is a huge part of the problem.

No way he can tip-toe around that.

DeSantis has yet to secure Florida’s elections...

Has yet to secure the state’s budgets from threats by Deep State...

Why is that, hmmmm?

Managing Floridas growth has to be a huge nightmare. Other than the Keys where we grow very little population wise because its too expensive to live here, the rest of the state is growing like mad.

In 1950 the population of Florida was near 3 million. We thought that was a lot. Today its pushing 30 million. Managing that growth has been near impossible. Roads, housing, services have all been growing like mad. The super cities like Miami,Orlando, Tampa and a few others are going left quickly and it's a tough slog to keep the rest of the state conservative. The future is unknown.

Very true. Desantis is out of the race. The only thing the dems do right is they come together all the appropriate time. We need to learn how to do that at key times.

When the dems come together and you add in massive voter fraud they are still a formidable enemy at election time.

“DeSantis is considering approving legislation that would help move homeless people off the streets and place them in specialized camps where they can enjoy access to various services.”

Sucks that DeSantis wasted over a year chasing Trump when he could have been setting such an EXCELLENT EXAMPLE for other Republicans in how to deal with problems.

Anyway, still better late than never, as I don’t see other Republicans coming up with stuff nearly this good.

Its a good ide, as long as itis temporary and has a way of getting them sorted into the salvageable human beings versus thise whi must be committed for mental health treatment. It can’t be a forever camp like a refugee camp breeding ground for hatred and violence.

Great news..Tampa has a public park known as 'Spice Park', two murders in the park in two years. In back of it are $400K homes just recently built. Had a homeless guy threatened me when I told him to move - so I can open my door to my office. A friend has a rooming house and he let anyone who can pay live there. Some are sexual offenders, but there's a bitch who wants to close them down because the neighborhood value is not what she wants. Of course, there are industrial plants, abandoned homes, vacant land and yes other rooming houses there. My friend spends a few millions on upkeep, taxes, lights on his properties. Some others don't and you can see them run down.

I'm glad RDS is tackling the issue of homelessness.

The CCC was the very rare government program that actually worked. It gave young men a purpose, paid them to let them help their families and had a lasting legacy. Many roads, national parks and hiking trails were built by the CCC.

I’ve read some CCC diaries. The men were proud of their accomplishments. If they didn’t work, they didn’t eat and were fired.

It might be time for something similar.
