The taxi companies bribed the democrats just as they did in California. In Calif. to coverup the bribe the democrats then raised the minimum wage to $20/hr which has cost 10’s of thousands of people their jobs.

Some drivers tried to unionize. When that failed, they made their plea to city hall. This is the result of making demands without leverage.
